Fight me bro
Warren strolls down the back streets energised. The food was extra good today, and that girl... Lilac. She was interesting. He can feel something spark inside him, curiosity. Something snaps behind him. A stick? The wind? Warren uses all his willpower not to flash his eyes green. If someone really was following him... chances are, they aren't friendly. Keeping his casual pace, Warren turns into a back alley. 'Pretend I'm trapped', he thinks to himself, a grin widening on his face. 'Then show them a piece of my mind.' As soon as he hears footsteps, he turns around, eyes blazing, to meet his attackers. Three middle-aged mobians, in good shape, with rocks and baseball bats."Well, well, hope you're ready for the fight of your life," Warren murmurs, the terrifying, low voice carrying easily through the small alleyway.
Lilac stands on her balcony, looking up at the stars. The moon glimmers high up in the sky above, it's beautiful glow. Like Warren's eyes. She jumps. What? The fox? Why had he popped into her head? Maybe... it was because of that face. The one he had made when she mentioned stars. His carefree, facade had crumbled for just a bit, and you could see the real softie behind that green hoodie. He had snuck into her thoughts rather abruptly, but now she couldn't get that fox out of your her head. Not the carefree one, although he was kind, but the softie beneath. It made her want to give him a hug. A green flash pulls Lilacs eyes to the streets below. One of the alleys is lit up with a strange green light, with streaks of white and yellow flashing through it. Confused, she stares at it for a few more moments, seeing the light move and change direction. A person is thrown out of the alleyway, then picks up their bat and charges back in. That settles it. She has to find out what was going on.
Warren flings out his hand, shooting a blast at one of his attackers. It lands against his bat, pushing him backwards and sending him flying out of the alleyway. One of his comrades is already knocked out on the ground. The other is looking at him wide-eyed, glancing between his partners and Warren's green glowing eyes. Then he raises his bat and charges at Warren, screaming bloody murder.
Lilac peeked into the alleyway to see that the green glow was coming from someone in a green hoodie. Her mind automatically connects it to Warren, but the fox she sees is nothing like the carefree or the softie. It's someone... more dangerous. Cold. Murderous. The man who was flung out of the alleyway looks at you questioningly, then waves you off. "Don't get involved!" he yells at her. Then he starts running at Warren, who's wrestling for the bat of one of the other men. Warren looks exhausted and Lilac doesn't know what he did to deserve this hate, but he's more of a friend than these other men are. She had to help. Running up behind the man who yelled at her, she flung herself at the bat grabbing it.
"Hey!" He calls running at Lilac but she jumps out the way so he runs into the wall behind her. Lilac runs for where Warren and the other man are and are met with a green blast heading straight for her face.
Warren blinks. What? What's Lilac doing here? He waves a hand, making the blast disappear before it hits her. Lilac looks at him questioningly, like she doesn't really know what just happened.
"Lilac, get outta here-!" Warren yells out, just as a bat hits him right in the stomache. Right. Still fighting a smelly prick who lives in his mother's basement. Warren lets out an 'oof!' and collapses to the ground, powerless to stop the man advancing on him. You swear that for a second his eyes turn green, but he looks at Lilac and the glow goes away. Hefting her bat, Lilac runs over and hits the man in the back. He collapses to the ground, yelping. Dropping the bat she runs to Warren and helps him up. He grunts.
"You shouldn't be here"
'I'm not leaving' She clutches her hand, it's bleeding slightly. Looking at Warren, she can tell he's going to need some help. Hes gripping his shirt where he was hit and he's shuddering. The two turn back to back, Lilac with a bat in hand and Warren with glowing green hands. The men advance towards them, but they're ready.
The fight was fast and over quickly. Warren collapses onto the ground wheezing and clutching his stomche. Lilac hits the last mobian standing with her bat and runs to him. His eyes are closed and he's out of it. She helps him up and slings his arm around her shoulder. As she walks away, she looks back at the unconscious men in the alleyway. They'll realize someday, she thinks. Everyone can be kind, if they just try.
