Our Fantasy World (Lilacs Story)

(She's older in this one) Lilacs just moved into a new city, trying to escape the pressure of her home towns expectations. She didn't want to work with Sonic or her mum or the freedom fighters if she had to fight or hurt anyone. She wants a new start. But, going out to a bar one day and finding new friend may just involve her in more trouble then that she ran away from. He's terrifying. But terrified. She loves him. But she's scared, too. She believes everyone can be kind, if they just try. He calculates that everyone is a little evil. Except her.

The fox and the hedgehog

Lilac hits a bump in the pavement and her roller skates swerve and wobble. Loseing balance she topples over bumping her head on the ground. Rubbing the back of her head, she look down along the road. In the distance, she can see a sprawling city.
She spares a glance behind her to make sure her stuff didn't out of her bags after the bump. Lilac can't wait to get to the apartment she purchased. She had made sure that she got an apartment with a small balcony, to view the stars with. Finally, Lilac reached the city suburbs. She could see mobians hanging out in their yards, sitting on the porch, soaking in the sunlight. She can't wipe the smile off her face as she perused the downtown area. There's a small bar, a grocery store, a movie theater, and that's only on one street! Lilac arrives at the building she was looking for. She pops her roller skates off and stuff them in a carrier bag before heading inside. The hotel lobby--apartment lobby, she reminds herself--is just as glamorous as the outside. The people at the check-in desk smile at you, and hand over your key without much of a fuss. Counting, she reaches room 217 in less than a minute, where she fumbles to unlock the door with one hand. As soon as she gets inside, she dumps her stuff on the floor and surveys the empty rooms. A light knock on the door was heard. Lilac opens it to see a young delivery boy stood there surrounded by boxes.
"These are yours?" Lilac nods and signs thank you to him in sign language.
About five trips up the stairs later, she's laying against one of the duffle bags, surrounded by luggage that she probably won't get around to unpacking. Letting out a sigh of a job well done, Lilac walks over to the balcony to look outside for a bit. It's a lot later than it was this morning, and her stomach rumbles. Pulling out her phone, she realises she's skipped lunch altogether, and it's almost dinner. Sighing, she walks inside and closes the door to the balcony. Perhaps she'll go to that bar she saw?

A short walk later, Lilac is standing outside the bar, debating whether or not the warmth seeping out from under the door is normal. Encouraged by a grumble from her stomach, she opens the doors and walks inside. Everyone seems to be enjoying the food. Taking a seat on a bar stool and turning to her left, Lilacs startled by a fox looking right at her, with a small smile on his face and slight red blush on his cheeks, as if he's drunk. The grin falters when he sees her jump, and she eases up and smiles politely back to show she was just startled. He gives her a bigger smile this time.
"Have you been served yet?" He asks. His voice is low, almost hollow. Lilac shakes her head.
'No, I haven't' she signs taking in his surprised expression. He nods understanding.
"well, I guess it's time," he chuckles, and waves over someone standing behind the bar. Lilac thanks the fox and signs
'May I have the menu?" The bar tender tilts his head obviously confused.
The fox chuckles again.
"Just get them a burger, or something'." He turns towards Lilac, questioning. "that okay?" She nods. As the bar tender fades into the back of the bar, the fox looks at Lilac again, taking another swig of beer. "what's your name?"
'L-I-L-A-C' she signs. He says each letter out loud as she does so.
"Li-Lil-Lilac?" He questions and she nods enthusiastically.
He gives you a playful smile, his cheekbones still tinted red from the alcohol.
"Nice name. I'm Warren" The bar tenders back and he puts a plate down in front of Lilac. You take a big bite of her burger--it's amazing! Super flavorful, and not under or over cooked. She looks to the side of the plate to see a glass of water, even though she hadn't seen the bar tender bring it over. Lilac takes her time enjoying her meal, chatting and signing with Warren as if he's an old friend. The next time she looks at her clock it's around 9 p.m.
'Sorry Warran, I've got to go!' shes signs jumping from her bar stool. Warren gives her another grin.
"You ditching me?" Lilac waves her hands frantically, on the edge of flailing.
'No, no, it's not that! It's my first day here--I just moved--and I really want to see the stars. It's just I heard there's no pollution in the city because it's so new, and I really want to go check out the view! Stars... they've always really interested me. No matter where you are in the world, you're always looking at the same set of stars. They... they never leave!"

Warren's expression softens, the red glow on his cheeks intensifying as he watches Lilac enthuse over the cosmos. She watches him for a second before he snaps out of it, and she can tell this time that the red glow is a blush.
"H-heh, I know what you mean," he murmurs, rubbing the back of his head.
'Well, I might see you around! Nice meeting you, W-A-R-R-E-N' Lilac signs, giving him a small smile and a wave before leaving her money on the counter and exiting the bar.
She swears the red on his cheeks was darker than it was when she first came in.
