Back to His Roots
It had already been hours since he left the castle; Yet he wasn't tired in the least bit. In fact, Sonata felt invigorated. Almost as if he'd don't this exact thing once before. He glanced down into a small puddle of water, gazing into the sapphire eyes of his reflection. Wait; That couldn't be his reflection. The man in the puddle wore golden armor, with emeralds set into the shoulders and piece that connected them.It couldn't be...
"Hello, young traveler", the spirit spoke.
"What brings a fine boy like you into these woods?"
Sonata stood silently. That man in the puddle. He looked exactly like the fabled Fallen Knight of the Dusk. The one who was overshadowed by the shadow with the flaming eyes. The very hero who'd died in the arms of the forgotten queen.
"I see that you've met Princess Cana. Who would have known that she is descended from the Mourning Goddess?"
The young man's heart was racing. That strange spirit in the little pool of water had to be the Fallen Knight. And for some reason, it scared Sonata.
"I'm sure that Cana has already told you about Valeria and the Evil Lord. But has she told you about Eclipse?"
The younger boy tilted his head.
"She mentioned something about Eclipse becoming princess."
The strange man in the water gave a small nod, before he began to tell the story.
"There were once two sisters. The eldest, Eclipse, and Cana, the one with the water eyes. Cana and Eclipse were the best of friends.
That Eclipse was a mischievous girl, always causing some kind of trouble, while her sister was much more serene and innocent. Which may have been why young Cana was given the crown."
Sonata's gorgeous eyes grew wide.
"Ancient Queen Cana? My princess's ancestor,"
With a small nod, the ghost continued.
"Yes. Cana was a great queen. Friendly, yet stern. As years passed and the nation thrived, a very jealous Eclipse plotted a way to get revenge on her sister. By turning a certain young knight against himself. That certain knight...He was me. Many believe that the evil spirit was brought back as a way for Valeria's Twisted Knight to make up for his mistakes. But No; It was Eclipse.
"But why was it I, may you ask? Well... I was Cana's closest friend."
The younger boy nodded.
"She brought back the evil spirit of Lord Canatra, which is the very man who both you and I descended from. And the only way to get rid of him is to kill him..."
Sonata glanced at the puddle in doubt.
"I don't think I can..."
The spirit was silent.
"My boy, you can defeat the monster. For me. For the goddess!"
"...For Cana..."
