Fallen Requiems
Cana paced nervously around her bedroom. Rain dribbled silently onto the ground. It was all too familiar.Drip, drop
She couldn't place her finger on it. A flash oflightning struck outside, causing the crown princess to jump slightly. The light of the stars bled faintly through the clouds. Two green stars, seeming as if they had been placed right on the center of the evening sky, twinkled brightly. It was then that the sound came to mind.
Drip, drop.
The silent cry of the goddess.
Cana gazed out the window in shock.
Drip drop, Drip drop. The tears of the mourning queen.
CRASH! The sound of a battle between past and present soldiers.
Silence.
The lady pulled a black cloak over her simple and sensible long-sleeved dress. She exited the palace door and began wandering off into the night. Cana glanced around, her gaze focusing on a small, stone slab near a large willow tree. She carefully approached it, squinting to make out the words set in the worn granite.
"Here lies the spirit"
"Of the Ancient's fallen hero."
"Buried with treasures of the royal family"
"Guaranteed to travel from one life to the next"
A single tear slipped down Cana's cheek, landing on a soft patch of dirt. A flower sprouted in the spot where it had landed. A special flower, known as Queen Val's Gown. It's stem was a very pale shade of green, with luscious, flourishing white petals.
"Sonata Stamenovic...", she spoke, voice barely audible. She continued as the lily's petals began to curl up and wither.
"Please...Defeat the evil lord as to ensure the peace of our weary spirits. I trust you. And I..."
Her last two words were left unheard, fading into the wind.
