Survival

One of us stayed with her, while all of the others went out to look for supplies. When everyone got back, we had some leather that had been salvaged from the plane, some wood, vines, and an odd collection of fruits. Out of the sturdy sticks and vines, we made a cast for the friend with the broken leg, and made a makeshift shelter out of the leather and wood.
We weren’t sure if the fruits that had been found were safe to eat, so we had no supper that night. After finally falling asleep on empty stomachs, we slept soundly until morning came. Well, almost all of us. I had woken up around 4 am and heard a twig snap in the trees to the left of our shelter. I cautiously creeped out of the tent to see two eyes glowing in the darkness. I was terrified, so terrified that I could not move because of fear.
Tristan had realized that I was up and out of the tent, and came out to join me. After showing him the eyes, he dashed back inside the tent to wake up the others. Addison hobbled out slower than the rest of us, but eventually we all saw the monster that was staring at us with hungry, malicious eyes.
I dashed back to the tent to grab our only weapon. A stick, with a rather sharp rock attached to one end. As soon as the monster had seen that we were armed it slowly retreated, still watching us with those big, yellow eyes.
As we were already awake, none of us saw the point of trying to rest a few more hours, so we all began working. We drew straws to decide who would do what today. I had to guard and look out for more monsters, like the one we had seen earlier that morning, Addison had to collect and purify water, so that we didn’t die from dehydration. Sydney had to collect food, Tristan had to scavenge for useful items.
We made a better shelter in a cave with our small amount of building materials. It was cool in the cave so that the food wouldn’t spoil. As everyone was sitting around the fire that night, Tristan came up with a brilliant idea.
