Chapter 9
From the top of the building, Kai could see everything. Five hairy, brown creatures, about seven feet tall and just about as wide. The hair was not very long, but it covered them from nose to toes. He could almost smell their breath, coming from in between two large, yellow tusks and framed by many smaller, sharp teeth, still as big as his hand.“Ogres?”
“Trolls,” replied Aeden, “Ogres are scaly green…”
“Yep. Okay. I get it.”
They had used some sort of speed spell to pack hurry up the stairs of the building, and arrived there just in time to see a short, green, long-nosed humanoid, sort of like one of santa’s elves in overalls, charn these hulking beasts to the sewer entrance.
Iobar explained. “Stiltskins can’t enter a household or private place without the owner's permission, so they get some simpleminded giant and force them to knock down the walls. I’ve put a cloaking spell over your scent, so most Trolls, Ogres, and such won’t be able to find you.”
“Who cares, I’m going to die anyways.” grumbled Kai.
“You don’t die, per se,” said Aeden, “You just get reincarnated. You keep your mind. We
still visit Nicholas sometimes.”
“Yeah,” said his twin, “The philosopher.”
“Well, that’s much better.” Kai was still wondering, “So ,you’re wisps.”
“Yep,” confirmed Eaden “Will-o’-the-wisps.”
“And you look like coloured flames.”
“Mm-hmm” said his twin, “Our leader’s red.”
“Okay. why are we still standing here?”
“No idea.” said Iobar. Now that they were out in the light, anyone could now see he was wearing black robes, with gray celtic knots as embroidery. “Let’s go.”
