Training

After getting settled in our rooms it was time for us to train.
Tristan and I walked together down the hallway and paused in front of the training room door.

I turned to him and said "Tristan, in case the alliance plan fails, we have to pretend to be in love right?"
Tristan nodded in acknowledgement.

"Well, while we're around other tributes we have to pretend we're in love just in case."
"Sounds good." Tristan agreed and we headed inside, our fingers laced together.

"Ooooh looks like we have a few lovebirds!" a tribute from area 3 teased.
Tristan and I ignored him and kept walking.

The night before, our mentor Gemma Redricks had told us not to show
what our real talents were.

Tristan was strong and good with spears, but lacked ability in archery.
Gemma had told him to spend some time doing archery as to not show off his strengths.

I explained how my strong point was with throwing knives and cunning, and I was an average archer.
Gemma told me to mainly work with survival skills such as camouflage and identifying plants.

Tristan and I headed our separate ways and pretended to throw longing glances at each other.
This acting thing was actually kind of easy!

The other tributes held back laughter watching Tristan at the archery station.
Tristan ignored them and kept practicing.

The instructor and the camouflage station taught me how to paint a tree design on my arm.
I was surprisingly good at it!

Once training was over Tristan and I headed back to our room holding hands.
Gemma was there to meet with us.

"Well? How did it go? Everything according to plan?" Gemma asked.

"Everything is on track." Tristan answered.
I noticed we were still holding hands and quickly let go, blushing.

"Did the tributes believe your whole 'in love' act?" Gemma questioned.
"Yes." I replied.

"Great, now it's time to prepare you for your interviews. Dawn first, then Tristan." Gemma said, grabbing my wrist and dragging me to another room to prepare.
