Rebecca!
Kate put the old, battered journal away and exited the cave. She heard a voice behind her."Where are you off to?" Tom asked.
"Just checking on Rebecca and Dad, They're taking longer then usual." She continued towards the coast. She managed to see the woman, but not her father at first. Then, she saw him in the ocean, he appeared to be retrieving something. Rebecca was moving her head around, trying to figure out which direction he had gone, for he left in a hurry.
Suddenly, Kate's father fell over, being pushed around by the waves. He gave a cry for help, and before Kate could even process what was happening Rebecca had sprung into action.
"Roger!" she called, heading towards the sound of his voice. Kate quickly followed, and they both reached him quickly. He was holding what seemed to be a brown leather purse. The two girls helped Roger back to his feet.
"Thanks," He said graciously, coughing at the same time. The began to head back to shore, when suddenly a large wave hit. Kate just remembered salty water swirling around her, entering her nose and stinging her eyes. After a little while of this, with her head popping out every now and then, she found that she was back on the beach. 'That's convenient,' she thought while coughing up the liquid. She turned her head and saw her father getting up, but no Rebecca. the black haired girl leapt to her feet. She turned back to the sea, but it was empty.
"Rebecca!" She called, "Rebecca! If you can hear me, give a shout!" Suddenly, she saw a little bit of brown in the water, it looked like the woman's hair. 'She's out there!' Kate began to run towards the ocean but Roger held her back, not wanting to lose her.
"REBECCA!" She called one last time. Kate thought she heard a distant cry, but she wasn't sure.
The brown may have not been the woman, and there may have been no shout, but whatever happened, Rebecca Sawyer was never seen again.
