The Yellow Flame
"Marcus, go to my room. I will be there shortly." I ordered. As Marcus walked out of the throne room, Damian and my father's smiles disappeared.
"Where is the white flame?" father asked irritated.
Keeping my face serious, I responded," She choose the light side."
"What the Hell are you talking about?" Damian yelled.
"You heard me. I thought you were able to make her join us. Was y'all love connection not strong enough?" I said yelling at Damian.
"You still did not compete your mission, little flame." my father said standing up. "All of the flames must join us."
"She might have joined his side, but she can still work for us." I said.
"You still need to know your place!" my father yelled shooting black flames out of his hands. The flames rushed straight to me. My demonic wings wrapped around the front of my body. Feeling the black flames collide on my wings, the flames did not sting. My wings pushed off the fire coming at me. Then, I pushed my wings out stopping the fire.
While my wings were extended out, I said, "You are getting weak, father. I grow stronger the closer my birthday comes." I closed my wings to lay on my back. "Damian, did you hear anything about where Sasha is?" I asked.
"She is buried in Oak Grove Cemetery." Damian said. Walking out of the room, I smiled. Father continues to grow weak as I grow stronger. It will not be too long before his body disappears into dust. Stopping at Damian's room, I went inside to his room and went to the closet. Opening the closet, I grabbed a black short sleeve tight shirt with a blue jean pants and walked out the door. Running down the hallway, I opened my bedroom door and shut it behind me. Marcus stood by the window glancing at me.
"Michaela, will I grow wings?" Marcus asked walking towards me.
"Here take these clothes, and I will explain everything while I grab me clothes." I asked handing the clothes to Marcus. Walking towards my closet, I said, "You will grow white wings. No matter what side you choose, you will grow white wings." Opening the closet door, I walked inside grabbing a black short sleeve tank top, a black short sleeve jacket with a zipper going up the middle, a pair of black skinny jeans, and a pair of black high heel boots.
"Well that is pretty cool. Is it hard to fly?" Marcus asked as I walked out the door.
"It is pretty easy if you relax." I answered walking to Marcus. "We are going to go to the Earth and wait till morning." Instead of grabbing Marcus' hand, he pulled me around his arms and hugged me.
"Thank you for being here with me. After Roman left for college, I have been alone. You are a great friend. Maybe even more to me." Marcus told me. His lips pressed against my forehead. The warm feel of his lips made my cheeks become red. "Such a beautiful shade of red." Marcus said tilting my head up. While Marcus pulled his head closer, I closed my eyes. Then, I felt his warm lips press against mine. Our lips moved up and down entangling with each. Seeing the dark red light, I decided to send us after we were done. Pulling his lips away, Marcus grabbed my back tighter to him. Opening my eyed, the dark light covered over our bodies. When we arrived, we were in a subdivision. Houses linked up beside each other all in different colors. Still in Marcus' arms, I stared into his blue eyes. His white hair overlapped his blue eyes. Staring into his blue eyes, I felt the warmth comfort of his eyes consuming my body with warmth.
Slowly pushing away, I said, "That was fun. Come on there is a house around here we can stay in."
Waking down the sidewalk, Marcus asked, "Was that your first kiss?" After Marcus asked that, he grabbed my hand. "Oh by the way you were good for your first time." I kept my head straight up and smiled.
"Yes it was my first. Hey your birthday is soon. Who side will you choose?" I asked searching for a empty house.
Staring away from my face, Marcus said, " I do not know. Probably dark." Noticing Marcus did not want to talk about it, I continued searching for a house. Finally, I spotted a house with no cars or trucks in the drive way. The house was little and white with morning glories in front of the door. Walking up the stone covered pathway, I relaxed my hearing and tried searching for sound in the sound. I stood there listening for a sound of snores or breathing, but I heard nothing. At the door, I twisted it left to right until I twisted it so hard, the doorknob broke. "That was not nice. The door might have wanted its knob." Marcus joked coming up behind me. Rolling my eyes, I crotched inside. The room was covered in red with a broken cross on the ground of the white carpet floor. As we walked down the hallway, the paintings had been ripped to pieces. While in the hallway, we past a room with a shower in it.
"Go take a shower while I check the master bed room for one." I ordered walking deeper into the hallway. The farther I entered the hallway a aroma of death covered the air. Turning to my right, I discovered the master bed room. Walking slowly in, I saw a dead female body. Organs and blood surrounded the middle of the room. On top of the body was a little demon with long wings flapping up and down while its tail swerved the sides. Stooping my foot of the ground, the red body of the demon turned around and widen his black eyes.
Backing up to the corner, the demon said," Princess! This is not what it looks like!" Walking to the bed, I placed my clothes and boots on a clean spot of the bed. Hearing the shower began to run, the demon asked, "Oh you brought food! Let me go check on it!" Before he could fly past me, I reached his body grabbing my hand around his neck. "Please do not kill me! Plea.."
I interrupted saying, "Silence! Die like a demon." Squeezing its neck, I felt its pulse slowly fade away till it was gone. Then, the body turned into ash and disappeared. After grabbing my clothes and boots from my bed, I headed to the bathroom on the other side of the room. Stepping over the torn up body, I walked into the bathroom and shut the door. Placing my clothes and boots on the sink, I looked in the cabinet sink. In the sink was one red towel left. Grabbing the towel, I pulled my wings and tail in and turned my ears normal and my eyes yellow. While I was pulling the red marks under my skin, I heard a raddle in the shower. I put the towel on the counter hearing another rattle coming from the shower. Walking to the shower, I pulled the sheet and found a little girl. The girl had black long hair with blue eyes and pale skin. As the coward to the corner, I noticed she was wearing a one piece hello kitty pajamas. Kneeling down, I greeted, "Hi. My name is Michaela. Do you mind coming out? I will not hurt you." The little girl shoved her pinky in the air, and I wrapped my pinky around hers. Jumping out of the shower, I said, "How about you sit on this toilet while I take a shower?" She shook her head and sat on the white toilet. Reaching for the hot water nozzle, I turned it to the right, and cold water squirted out of the shower cap. Turning away from the little girl, I took my clothes off and jumped in the shower. "So what is your name?" I asked the little girl as warm water hit me skin.
"My name is Ellie." the little girl said.
While I was washing my red hair with lavender scented shampoo and conditioner, I asked, "How old are you, Ellie? I am fifth-teen."
Washing my hair out, I heard Ellie say, "I am six." As the water hit my head, I felt a pain shoot through my heart. Ellie had no idea that her mother was gone.
"Where is your dad?" I asked scrubbing my body with coconut body wash.
"He is at work." Ellie said. I felt my heart fall deeper into a pit of sadness after finding everything out. "Michaela, I am tired. Can I go to sleep?" Ellie said tugging on the sheets of the shower.
"Yes, Ellie." I said turning the shower off. When I pulled the shower sheets, Ellie was laying in the floor with her thumb in her mouth. Her black hair covered her face while her legs were curled up to her body. Grabbing the towel, I dried my self off then put my clothes on. Bending down, I picked up my dirty clothes and boot and held them in my hand. "Ellie, let me carry you out of here." I whispered in Ellie's ear. Ellie rolled over on her back and reached her tiny arms out. Placing my hand behind her back, I picked her up. Her little legs wrapped around my legs while her little arm held my neck.
She buried her face into my red hair and whispered, "You smell like mama." Holding on to her tighter, I opened the door where her mother lay dead. Stepping over her mother, I left the master bedroom with Marcus just now walking out of the shower. His white hair damping the black shirt he was wearing. Pointing at the girl, I walked past him into a room with a shattered flat screen TV, a broke glass coffee table, and a grey couch. Placing Ellie and my clothes and boots on the grey couch, I walked over to Marcus who was standing at the entrance with his dirty clothes in his arms.
"Who is she?" Marcus asked glaring at Ellie.
"Her name is Ellie. I did not hear her, but when I walked into the master bedroom, a demon was on top of her mother. After I killed the demon, I found her hiding in the shower. I tell her to go to a neighbors, and we will leave. Get your stuff we are leaving after this." I said. Walking towards Ellie, I slightly shook her. She opened her blue eyes and looked at me. "Ellie, do you know your neighbors?" I asked pulling Ellie up. She shook her head up and down to mean yes. Grabbing her hand, I said, "How about you go to their house tonight? Your mom wanted me to tell you that."
Ellie held my hand tightly and said, "Will you go with me?"
"Yes I will." I responded walking towards the door. "Which neighbor do you know?" I asked opening the door.
"That one. Come on!" Ellie said tugging me to the house on the right of hers. The house had same appearance as hers, but there were roses in front of the house with a black SUV in the driveway. Letting go of my hand, Ellie ran to the door and started knocking on it. Then, I old woman with grey hair and green eyes opened the door. From her pink gown and slippers, I noticed she has just crawled out of bed.
"Ellie, it is four o'clock in the morning. What are you doing?" the old woman asked rubbing her eyes.
"I can answer that. Her mother told me to come babysit. She said she had some important things to do. My father has just called about a emergency, and I have to leave." I explained to the old woman. "Bye, Ellie. Be good!" I said waving bye to Ellie. Ellie ran from the front door and grabbed my legs hugging them.
Hugging my legs tighter, Ellie said, "Goodbye, Michaela. Will you come back to see me?" Ellie gazed up at me with her blue eyes.
Shaking her hair, I responded, "I will." Ellie's smiled big and ran inside the house. Walking up beside me, Marcus placed his hand on my shoulder. Turning my head, Marcus stood behind me smiling.
"The Devil's daughter has a heart. I guess it finally thawed out." Marcus said smiling. "What about our finger prints?" Marcus asked. Walking away, I just glared into the sky.
"You ever wonder why bad things happen to good people? God is supposed to protect these people, but is he trying to prove a point to them? Oh sorry just a train of thought coming through. No our finger prints will not show. Being a flame has its perks." I talked while we walked down the sidewalk.
"Where are we going?" Marcus asked walking beside me. The night sky was covered my bright twinkling stars while the full moon made every little thing in the dark seem visible.
Staring off through the sky, I answered, "Well it is five in the morning. I was guessing we go get food."
Marcus cocked his eyebrow up if I was stupid and said, "I used to stay in this neighborhood with a friend. The closest town in thirty minutes away. I am not walking. Lets take a bus." Pointing his finger, Marcus pointed to a bus stop. The bus stop had a sign telling what It was and a wooden bench to sit on. Walking towards the bench I sat down on its cold wood. Marcus extended his arms around my shoulders and wrapped me up in his arms. Pulling my body on his, I placed my hand of his chest. His body sent off a strong feel of strength and warmth. I felt my body melting away in the comfort of his body. As I laid on Marcus, I felt my eyes began to droop. Then, I passed out.
A loud bus horn startled me as I pushed my eyes open. The light from the sun burned my yellow eyes. Glancing up, I saw a ragged old man with a white cap on driving a blue long bus. Shaking Marcus, his blue eyes opened and pushed his white bangs out of his face. "Are you two ridding or not?" he yelled at us. Grabbing my clothes and boots, I pulled Marcus up, and we walked to the other side of the bus. Opening the double doors, the old man said, "That will be two dollars." Reaching in my pocket, I found two wrinkled up dollar bills. Placing them in the container, I walked to the back of the bus. No one appear to be on the bus but Marcus and me. We sat in the very back row where the black seats appeared to be torn to shrewd.
"Where did you get two dollars?" Marcus yawned.
"I do not remember. Be lucky I found them." I answered smoothing my hair down.
"How are we going to get food?" Marcus asked pulling his fingers through his hair.
Stretching my arms out, I answered, "There is a demon restaurant that gives me food for free." Marcus began to frown and look away. "Do not worry. They have hamburgers and fries." I responded to his awkward look. The view of the bus was green summer oak trees shimmering through the shining sun. We rode on the highway tired and exhausted. My thoughts began to wonder as I sat in the window seat. How did I get from flying to riding a bus? I used to never turn into my human form, but now every time I am around Marcus, changing feels perfect with him. After riding for a while, we made it to the city. As soon as we arrive, I pulled the rope hanging down from the rail on top of the bus's ceilings. The old man stopped the car and turned around with half his mouth smirked up and eyebrows up. Marcus got up out of the seat, and we walked off of the bus. The area was brick buildings with broken or cracked windows. While wind blew in my face, the smell of old blood and consuming trash filled the air. The building we stood in front of had a sign that said, "Diablo's Place"
"Why did we get off the bus? I think there is a Burger King up the road a little." Marcus placed his hand on my shoulder rubbing his fingers into my jacket.
Opening the door in Diablo's Place, I said, "Come on, Chicken. They have good food." Entering the place, the room was dark and red tables and chairs covered the area. In the back was a bar setting where Marcus and I set beside each other. In the chairs, demons of all kinds set at the tables staring at us when we walked in.
"Well look who walked in my little place. What can I do for you, Princess?" A demon with green skin, boils, a large nose, and thick arms cleaned dishes and served drinks and food at the bar.
"Well Amsterdam I wanted some good drinks. You are the best I ever had." Sitting down at the bar, I felt demon stares on Marcus and me.
"Who is the boy? What Michaela really has a heart especially since you are in human form?" The room filled in laughter after that comment. Shooting my demonic wings out of my back and changing my eyes to dark red, I glared at the green demon.
"Laugh, but y'all will not be laughing when I rip your arms off and burn you into ashes." The green demon stepped away from me with his black eyes widen. "I want a Bloody Mary with extra blood."
Marcus searched through the menu frowning his face. "I want a plain burger, spicy fries, and a coke." The green demon rolled his eyes and walked his the back door by the bar. Suddenly, sharp talons grabbed my shoulder. Moving my hands from the bar, I tugged the red hand from my shoulder and pushed it and the demon's body on the floor.
"Damn. It is me calm down." Diablo struggled to get free of my grip. His black demonic wings tried pushes me off of him, but I stood up. As he got up, his horns swirled out of his head while his muscles on his arms flexed. Most demons never wear pants, but Diablo had a black pair of blue jeans.
"Watch out next time, or you might not live." Sitting back in my seat, I found a red glasses in front of me.
I lifted my drink up and began to drink to the sweet taste of blood covering my taste buds hearing Diablo. "You are your father's child, but I never knew your father to carry a human around with him." Drinking my Bloody Mary, I glanced at Marcus. His hair was pulled behind his ear while he demolished the burger in right hand and fries in the left.
"He is the blue flame and will not be touched." Sipping my drink, Diablo glanced at the starving boy and walked away.
"Well that was interesting." Marcus spoke with food stuffed in his mouth.
"Finish your food, and lets go." Placing my empty cup down, I walked through the stares of demons. Marcus stuffed the food in his mouth and chased after me. Walking out the door, Marcus stood beside my as we made our way to the Oak Grove cemetery.
"We sure did spend a lot of time in there." Marcus walked closer to me while we made it into the city.
"It is twelve. We need to find Sasha before we run out of time." Turning a left, I felt the stare of humans. Men's eyes lurked at me with eyes of lust. With eyes of disguise, women passed by me. After the last group of men stared at me, Marcus wrapped his fingers around mine. Our fingers intertwined with each other making my heart pound on my chest. As we walked down the sidewalk, I felt his touch cover my body in wonder. How could this boy care about a demon like me? The thought exploded through my mind. I realized maybe he is just using me, or is something else going on?
"Michaela, here we are." I heard Marcus' voice peer through my cloud of thoughts. Staring up, the black iron fence rose high containing the words Oak Grove cemetery. Walking through the opening, grave stones were lined up row after row. Each headstone had someone deceased name and a little detail about them. In the back, a gray tomb stood wide. On the top of the tomb, a name was imprinted which said 'Sasha Rose Tull'. Red roses were placed around the side of the door to the tomb and engraved on the sides.
"People really cared about Sasha. I would not blame them though. She always had a beautiful spirit." Walking to the door, I spoke and pulled the door towards me. My hands wrapped around the cold cermet door pulling towards myself.
"How did her family afford this?"
"Who said her family bought it?" I explained walking through the tomb door. Inside, the room was dark with only yellow flames glowing on torches handled on the walls. In the middle was a body covered with a white sheet and laying on stone. After making my way to Sasha's body, I pulled the sheet back. Her black hair lay curled on her black skinned shoulder. Pulling her white sheet off, Sasha wore a white gown. Shooting a red flame through my index finger, I engraved the revival symbol into Sasha's small chest. While I marked Sasha's chest, I reached into my pocket and grabbed the yellow crystal. Placing it on her chest, I said, "Now we both have to put our blood inside of her."
"That sounds terrifying." Marcus joked around as he shot a blue flame out of his finger. After we both had cut our palms, we gripped our hands together and squeezed our palms. Red and black blood mixed together oozing down into the mark. Staring at my eyes, Marcus grabbed my other hand and held it tight. "Michaela, you are beautiful." My cheeks grew bright red as I heard those words. The wind blew through the air gliding my red hair with it while our blood dripped into Sasha's chest. Pulling my hands away from him, I saw Sasha's brown eyes awake. Lifting body up, Sasha's arms suddenly wrapped around me. Tears began to fall on my neck as her chest rose up and down.
"Thank you. I knew you were not evil!" Those words gave a burning sensation lite in my chest. Sasha pulled away from me and glared at Marcus. "And now you have a boyfriend!" Running towards Marcus, Sasha wrapped her small black arms around his throat.
"He is not my boyfriend." I explained as my face emerged red. Sasha released her grip on Marcus and staring at me with her eye brow arched up. "Sasha, it is time for you to get ready." Turning around, Sasha walked into the forest.
"Life can never be this hard."
"Marcus, it is. It only gets tougher, but we never choose your destiny."
"We do too decided our destiny."
"You never wonder why you are where you are? It is because Bro. Mike show what you truly are. He raised you to be who you are now."
"You may be right, but my father did not chose who I am to become. My life is in my own hands just as yours is."
"My life was planned out for me. Watching your mother and friends die by your father's hands, you realize to obey his rules. Sometimes life has a funny way of making its self known."
"I am sorry to hear that, but destiny is in your hands. If my father would have never brought you home that night, I would not have thought about you for the rest of my life without you. Seeing you now, I want to stay with you and protect you. Michaela, you do not always have to keep your emotions locked up. I want to know how you really feel. I want to be your winged Romeo only if you will be my demonic Juliet. I love you."
Turning to Marcus, I smiled saying, "I..I love you." The words were difficult to get out of my mouth since I had only said that phrase to my mother. Walking to Marcus, I wrapped my small but muscular arms around his body. After he wrapped his buff pale arms around my neck, we stood there for a while holding each other in our arms.
Suddenly, I heard a voice say, " You failed again. Sasha chose God." Pushing away from Marcus, I stood up straight and glared into his blue eyes.
"I must return back to Hell alone." Closing my red eyes, I let the red flames engulf my body. Rapidly, a bullet pierced through my shoulder. Biting my lip, I quickly opened my eyes. Before the flames took me away, I saw Roman in the forest wearing a long lowered collar jacket buttoned up, a pair of black pants, black shoes, and a pendant with a white cross engraved on it. In his hand was a nine millimeter pointed directly at me.
