The White Flame
Rolling to the other side, there was no one laying down. I rose up to find Marcus standing by the window. The orange shirt he was wearing was gone. The curve figure of his muscles seem to make him stronger while the light from the red flames outside made his look tanner. My heart began to beat faster the more I stared at his body. Glancing over at me, Marcus said, "If you take a picture, it will last longer."Looking away, I felt my face get redder. "We need to get changed and head to the Vatican before it get midnight. Rebacca turns sixteen tomorrow." I said jumping off the bed. Walking to the closet, I shut the closet door to keep Marcus from seeing.
"Michaela, when do you turn sixteen?" I heard Marcus ask.
My wings and tail began to come back in my body before I changed. Sliding my pajama clothes off, I grabbed a black pair of skinny jeans and a tight black short sleeve shirt with a black short sleeve jacket that has a zipper up the middle. Pulling my black shirt over my head, I answered saying, "Friday. When is yours?"
Putting each leg through each pant's leg, Marcus said, "Thursday." Zipping my pants up, I began to realize how close the day was. When I finished zipping my black high heeled boots, I grabbed the blanket full of crystals and looked at the mirror on the side of my closet. Brushing my hair back with my fingers, my wings and tail ripped through my skin and came out. "Where will I go for my ceremony?" Marcus asked. Opening the door, Marcus stood in front of the door. He was wearing the orange shirt I got him with his blue jacket and black blue jean pants with his black shoes.
Staring at him, I said, "Rebacca and you will have your ceremony in Heaven where God and I will be there to see who you decide. Father is not allowed to leave Hell, so I go as his replacement." Moving past Marcus, I said," Come on. I have been to the back side of the Vatican before, so I will be able to teleport us there. Lets go get Damian, and we will leave." Walking to the door, I heard footsteps that stopped in front of my door. Pulling my door open, Damian stood in front of my room with a black t-shirt and black blue jean pants.
"Looking for me." he said smiling showing off his sharp teeth.
"Good. Now everyone hold hands." I said grabbing Damian's hand pulling into my room. Then, I grabbed Marcus's hand. Both boys looked at each other before holding each others hand. Closing my eyes, I tried thinking about the time I went to the Vatican. The door was white with white pillars making a straight line on the sides on the buildings. The concrete had white tiles on the ground. Opening my eyes, the dark red light swarmed over our bodies. As the light disappeared, we were standing behind a row of white pillars. "Alright we get in, revive Rebacca and leave, but first let us find out where she is." I said pointing towards the two guards standing at the door. The guards had helmets covering their face, and a body armor while they were holding spears. "Damian, want to go back to the old days and kill them." I asked.
"You are going to kill them? Why can you just knock them out?" Marcus asked while shaking my shoulder.
"You are too soft. Michaela, you sneak up behind the guard are the right and kill him while I grab the other one and find out where Rebacca is. You can stay right here till we finish, pussy." Damian said. I shook my head in agreement. Spreading my wings, I flew to the top pillar. After making it to the top, I glided over to the other side. Hiding behind a pillar, I glanced over at the side. Damian pointed his finger to the guard as I crept my way to the guards. One foot at a time, I made my way down the path of pillars. After making it there, I ran behind the guard and spread my wings.
"Look out!" yelled the other guard, but it was too late. Going through his armor, my dark red wings pierced his back. I felt the talons on the tip of my wings puncture the arties inside the human. When I pulled out my wings, the guard spit up blood and fell to the ground. "You B*tch!!" the guard tried to run at me with his spear, but Damian finally came around. Pulling the guard back, Damian pushed his orange dagger to the guard's neck.
"Now tell me where you are hiding the white flame, or I will slit you throat." Damian threated the guard.
"I will not tell you shit demon scum!" the guard answered. Damian pushed the dagger closer to his neck nearly piercing the skin. With his aching breathe, the guard said to me, "I know all of what is going on. I can see inside of you. Even though you kill, you have not decided your fate like this one. Open the door, and there is a hallway going straight. Go all the way to the end, and her body is in the last room. Follow your heart, Micha.." Damian cut him off short by slitting his throat. Red blood squirted out of his neck and fell to the ground beside the other guard. Marcus began walking out from behind the pillars. Glancing at the bodies, he looked up with his teeth biting his lip.
"Lets just go." I said tilting my head to the ground. Heading to the white door, I glanced at their bodies one more time. 'Maybe they did not have to die.' I thought opening the door. Stepping through the door, the hallway wall were grey stones with pictures of Jesus and figures of Jesus on the cross. The floor was brown and black tiles covering the entire hallway from as far as I could see. Running down the hallway, wood crosses stood on the walls and tables. Finally, we arrived at the end of the hallway. The door was as white as snow. Damian walked up to the door and twisted the knob. Inside, the room was pure white, but in the middle laid a stone bed with a girl on top. While her blonde hair was spread out on the sides of the stone bed, her tan skin pushed the color through her white gown.
"Rebacca." Damian said softly. Grabbing Marcus by his orange shirt, Damian pushed him to Rebacca. "Hurry up and bring her back." Damian ordered. While Marcus staring at Rebacca's lifeless body, I told Damian to guard the door incase any exorcists came near.
Grabbing Marcus' hand, I asked, "Do you remember how to do this?"
"Not really. Can you guide me through it?" Marcus asked wrapping his right arm around me. Being so close to him made my heart skip a beat. My wings pulled into my back after feeling his muscular arm pull me close to him. On my back, I felt the hard rock structure of his chest press against me causing my tail to fall to his feet.
Holding the top of his right hand, I made all but his index finger close into a fist, and I explained, "Now with your index finger make a blue flame come out." Feeling his tight muscles relax, a blue flame shot from his finger tips. "Good. Now draw to straight lines beside each other, a dash through them and a dot on the right side. Do not worry I will help you." I said. While my right hand helped him draw the symbol, my left hand reached for the white crystal in my back pocket. Since I was so close to Marcus, I accidently rubbed his leg instead of reaching in my back pocket.
"Hey. I do not think it is a bright idea to start this with your friend in the room. Maybe later ok?" Marcus said laughing. My face began to grow dark red from blushing. I could hardly contain it for as long as I have. Moving my hand from his leg, I reached in my pocket and grabbed the white crystal. The crystal was shining brighter than the sun as Marcus finished the mark.
"I am umm sorry for rubbing your leg, but now get out your sword and cut your hand." I said looking down away from Marcus.
Pushing away from me, Marcus replied, "Alright, but you better nurse me to help when I do this. On the other hand, being able to make a beautiful girl like you blush makes this even better." As he spoke, I felt my cheeks growing redder.
Flustered, I said, "Just draw your damn sword." Grabbing for Bluelightning, he pulled it out of his hilt. Placing over his hand, Marcus slowly pulled Bluelightning against the skin of his hand. When he finished, I placed the white crystal on Rebacca's chest. Then, he hovered his hand over her body drizzling red blood over the mark. As he moved his hand away, a white blinding ray of light shot out of Rebacca's body. Grabbing Marcus' hand, I pulled our bodies away from the light. When the light disappeared, Rebacca opened her brown eyes and dangled her legs to the side of the bed.
"Note to self. Do not die again." Rebacca said jumping off the bed. Quickly, Rebacca ran towards Marcus with arms wide opened. Wrapping her arms around him, she hugged him tightly saying, "Thank you. Thank you. Thank you! That place is so scary." A strange feeling of wanting to rip her head off rose from inside my stomach. Rebacca is such a nice girl, but seeing her hug Marcus like that made a feeling of hate rise from inside me. Looking at the door, Damian stood with his red dragon eyes wide open.
"Rebacca." he said slowly taking a step away from the door. Rebacca lifted her head up away from Marcus' neck.
Pushing Marcus away, Rebacca ran towards Damian with tears running down her face. "Damian! I missed you so much." she said hugging Damian's neck. Pulling her body back a little, she asked, "Why is your skin a different color?"
Before answering, Damian crested her blonde hair slowly with his left hand while he held her up with his right. "Rebacca, today is my birthday, and I choose to be dark. You can join me. In six hours, you will decide which side you will fight with." Damian said smiling. While Damian and Rebacca talked, I heard voices coming from the other side of the wall.
"Well it is nice to have you back, but humans are coming. We have to leave." I said pushing my wings out of my body. Running to the door, four exorcists were walking out of another hallway. As I ran down the hallway, we passed the hallway of the exorcists. Noticing us, they began screaming. "Go! Keep going till you get through the door! I will slow them down!" I ordered stopping in the middle of the hallway. Holding hands, Damian and Rebacca ran past me.
"You are crazy if you think I am leaving you alone." Marcus said standing beside me. Smiling, I held my hand out in front of my body and let the red flame out. The flame covered the walls and floor while Marcus did the same thing with his blue flame.
"Come on that should hold them." I said holding Marcus' hand. While holding his hand, we ran beside each other all the way through the door. Still running, we saw a trees that the row of pillars tried to cover. Sliding through the cracks of pillar, we hid in the forest. I slid my body down a oak tree and sat there. "Good job there, Blue Boy." I said catching my breathe.
As Marcus slid down the same tree, he wrapped his arm around my shoulders and said, "Thank you for not killing them." Staring at his blue eyes, I felt the gratitude swarm them. We stared at each others eyes for a while before he started pulling me in. I knew I was about to get a kiss, and with him it felt right. As I closed my eyes, I felt the warm feel of his breath come closer to my face.
Suddenly, I heard my father say in my head, "Good job. Damian has returned home informing me of the white flame's revival." With his words, I jumped away from Marcus and landed the back of my head on the dirt ground.
Responding back to my father, I said, "Thank you father. I will attend her decision with the blue flame sending me there." With those words, I did not hear my father anymore.
"What was that? Were you scared?" Marcus asked cocking his head to the side.
Rubbing the back of my head, I said, "I am sorry. My father communicated to me through my mind, and I jumped." Marcus began laughing. "It is not funny." I said smiling. I felt my emotions slowly come back to life. Maybe I was opening a new person with the help of Marcus. Raising to my feet, I looked at Marcus and said, "Ready to go to Heaven? Well not now in two hours." Marcus stopped laughing and rose to his feet.
"How are we supposed to get there? Call a taxi?" Marcus asked with his arms crossed around his chest.
Twisting my red hair around my finger, I responded, "No. You are going to take us there. We can go now if you want." Holding Marcus' hand, I said, "Close your eyes and focus on the blue light. Feel it surround your body. While you do that, imagine a white room with gold pillars standing all the way around the room. Then, open your eyes and let it come out." I watched him close his eyes until a blue light surrounded his and my bodies. After the blue light disappeared, we were not in the forest anymore but a white room. On the wall was a gold clock with ten minutes away from twelve o'clock. Suddenly, a bright orb of light appeared. The orb brighten the entire room causing my skin to tingle.
"Welcome, Michaela. What a please to see you again. Oh and we finally meet Marcus." the orb spoke with a deep voice. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Marcus glaring at me.
"The please is all mine, God." I nicely said.
"It is wonderful to see you inherited your mother's ability to be considerate to others. Now let us begin the ceremony." God said. While Rebacca walked through the door, my fist clenched in hate over hearing him speak that way. Making her way in front of the orb, Rebacca wore a white dress with her long hair curled. Kneeing down in front of God, God said, "Welcome Rebacca Lee-Anne Franklin. Today is the day you decide who you would like to join. Which side do you choose?" My mouth curved into a grin. After seeing Damian choose father's side, she is sure to follow her love.
With her head facing the ground, she answered, "I pronounce my white flame in the name of God. I choose the side of light." My red eyes widen big after hearing those whose. God shot a ray of white light out of the orb and on the crystal. The light of the crystal shinned bright almost blinding. Picking up the crystal, she crushed it in her hand. White flames surrounded her body. Then, she absorbed it into her skin. When the white flames went in her body, a pair of white wings shot out from her back. Feathers flew everywhere as she turned around to us. "Michaela, tell Damian I am sorry." Rebacca said closing her wings and walking out of the room.
