Chapter 2

Ferone curiously traveled further, the terrain became surprisingly flat and he heard rushing water close by. "I've never been this far," He gasped, suppressing his excitement.

Marigold scanned the clearing cautiously. "Y-You could fall," She squeaked shakily.

"I'm not dumb!" Ferone growled softly. "I'm smart enough already."

Marigold didn't argue but still seemed troubled. The couple reached a crevasse, well, at least, that was what Ferone thought it was. "It's big." Ferone gasped, he leaned out further for a greater view. Waterfalls, rivers and caves... Nothing he'd ever seen before.

"F-Ferone get back now." Marigold whispered nervously. Ferone didn't hear, breath-taken by the view.

Suddenly the ground gave away beneath his paws.

He had a few second to leap off, but the opportunity was gone as quickly as it came. Marigold yelped wildly and helplessly watched him collapse along with the chunk of rock.

"Ferone, no!" Were the last words he heard from Marigold.

Then it was pitch black, Ferone knew that he was a goner due to his stubbornness. I'm a fool... Ferone thought guiltily. If I had listened to Marigold I could've lived to become a big Husky.

Husky? That didn't sound right, what was he? He would never know... He would probably die. Ferone shut his eyes and silently prayed.
