Chapter 15

Louis and Daniela walked together to the health room. “So you’re going to Language Arts after you drop me off at health?” Daniela asked. “Yeah, I guess.” Louis sighed. Daniela raised an eyebrow. “Are you okay? You seem kind of depressed and you’ve been acting strange lately.” Daniela told Louis. Louis stopped walking. “I’m alright. Bye." Louis replied plainly and he walked away. Daniela watched him walk away. She suddenly felt this strange feeling in her heart. Daniela slowly entered the classroom. She placed her stuff next to Frank's and sat by him. She placed her head on the table. Frank looked at her. "Daniela, what's wrong?" He asked. "It's nothing." Daniela replied. "Well, you seem really depressed all of a sudden." said Frank. "I don't know." Daniela sighed. "You have to know." Frank poked Daniela's cheek. Daniela smiled slightly, but it quickly disappeared. Frank frowned. "You have to smile." Frank poked Daniela's arm. "What's bugging you?" "I told you, I don't know. I just don't feel happy right now." Daniela turned and looked at Frank. Frank bit his lip. "Well, I know how you feel right now. Since Kate isn't here, I feel depressed." "At least you have a reason." sighed Daniela and she looked away. "Aw, don't feel that way." Frank tried to face Daniela. "Did something happen with Louis?" "No, I don't think so. He just seemed so depressed lately. He hasn't really said much to me. But I'm not sure if that's what is bothering me now." Daniela replied. "It must be. What other reason could there be?" Frank asked. "I don't know." Daniela said plainly.
"Okay, guys lets go outside for a walk." Mr. Mound announced, and he opened the door. Everyone walked outside. "You have got to tell me what's bothering you. It's not good seeing you sad or depressed, you're always so happy." Frank told Daniela as they walked along the dirt pathway. Daniela sighed. "I seriously don't know. I just feel something bad is going to happen soon." Frank kicked a pebble. "Like what?" "I'm not sure." responded Daniela. "Well, we have to do something to get that frown off your face for today."
"Hey!" Rick slapped both Daniela and Frank hard on the back. Frank quickly turned around. "I am seriously gonna break your arm if you do that again." Frank threatened Rick. Rick put his arms up. "Fine be that way." Rick then went to the other side of Daniela. They soon heard voices from behind them. "You know I can run much faster than you." "Oh is that a challenge?" "I think it is." The three of them turned around. Zane and Kyle were arguing with each other. Rick ran over to them. "So does that mean you guys are having a race?" Rick seemed excited. "Yeah I guess so." Kyle replied. "I'm in!" Frank shouted, raising his hand up. "Alright, let's line up over here." Rick ran over to an empty spot of the path. The four of them got ready at the starting line. Daniela stood by them. Frank took off his sweater and held in his hands. "Here let me hold your sweater for you." Daniela held out her hands. "No it's fine." Frank smiled. "No really, let me hold it for you." Daniela insisted. "Alright." Frank handed his sweater over to Daniela. Daniela held the sweater in her arms.
"Ready, Set, Go!" shouted Zane. They took off, except for Zane. He stood there next to Daniela. He stared at her. Daniela awkwardly stood where she was, squeezing Frank's sweater. Zane finally spoke, "Here, give me his sweater." Daniela looked at the sweater then Zane. "But I -" "Just give it to me." Zane interrupted her. "I told him I would hold it for him." Daniela said quietly. "What are you, his slave?" Zane asked her. Daniela's eyes widened. "No." Zane's eyebrow twitched. He quickly snatched the sweater out of Daniela's arms. Then he wrapped the sweater up in a ball and threw it into a small cage next to the baseball field. Zane laughed as he wiped his hands together. Daniela gasped. Without hesitating, she ran into the cage. Zane was shocked. "Hey! No! Just leave it there!" he ordered. "No!" Daniela shouted and she ran over to Frank's sweater. She picked it up and started to dust it like a rug. Zane angrily ran to the door of the cage, closed and locked it. Daniela quickly ran to the door, sweater in her hands. "I wanted to have a little fun by messing with Frank, and you ruined it for me." Zane laughed starting to run after Frank, Kyle, and Rick.
Daniela watched Frank, he was still running. Daniela bit her lip. "Daniela!" She turned around. It was Allison. Following behind her was Joan, Alexia, and Janie. "Why are you in that cage?!" asked Joan, surprised. "Zane locked me in here! Can you guys get me out?" Daniela asked shaking the cage. They all ran towards her. Alexia unlocked the door and opened it. "Why did he -" Janie said, but wasn't able to finish. Once Alexia opened the door, Daniela quickly ran out towards Frank, who finally finished his race. She held tightly on his sweater.
Daniela finally made it to Frank. She panted, trying to get oxygen back into her body. Daniela handed Frank his sweater. "I'm sorry I took so long." apologized Daniela, still trying to regain back her energy. "Are you okay?" Frank asked. Daniela looked at him, then smiled. "Zane threw your sweater into the cage back there. I went to go fetch it, and then Zane locked me in there. When Alexia came and unlocked the door, I ran as quickly as I could over here." Frank looked at her disappointingly. "You didn’t have to do that you know. I could’ve gotten it myself. I wouldn’t want you to get hurt. And if you did, I don’t know what Louis would say. You could have just left it there." Daniela stared at him, then spoke, "I told you I was going to hold your sweater, right?" "Yeah." Frank responded. "So, when I say I’m going to do something, I’m going to do it. No matter what. You’re my friend, I don’t want you to worried." Daniela told Frank. Frank sighed. “Alright, but I was serious about you getting hurt. Just try not to do anything risky.” he warned. Daniela smiled brightly, "I won’t." Alexia, Allison, Janie, and Joan ran over to Daniela and Frank. “What was that all about?” asked Joan. “Oh, nothing.” replied Daniela. “Let's just keep walking.” “So are you starting to feel better?” Frank asked Daniela, as they walked along the path. “A little bit.” Daniela answered. “But I can’t get this sickening feeling out of my stomach, it's scaring me.” Daniela shivered.
Daniela walked to her locker. She sighed. What is up with me and this feeling, it doesn’t feel good, thought Daniela. She finished packing and waited for Melissa. She paused for a moment and looked over at Louis’ locker. “He still didn’t come to his locker.” she whispered. Daniela was disappointed. Melissa finally walked over. “Daniela are you okay? You seem sad.” Melissa asked. “Oh it’s nothing.” Daniela sighed. “Let’s go.” Melissa and Daniela walked together to the bus. Daniela slumped into the seat. Melissa sat next to her. Daniela rested her head on her backpack and stared into space. "Louis has been acting weird lately." Daniela told Melissa. "How weird?" Melissa asked. "He's been looking depressed or annoyed, like something is bothering him. Louis hasn't been really talking to me anymore." Daniela replied. Melissa looked concerned. "Has anything happened to you two?" she asked. Daniela shrugged, "Well, ever since Felix has been around me more, Louis has been becoming annoyed." "Oh, he's jealous." Melissa nodded. "Why would he? I'm not dating Felix, I'm dating him. Anyways, today I got this really strange feeling that made me feel depressed." Daniela sighed. Melissa patted Daniela's back, "You just don't get the reasons of jealousy." "Oh well." Daniela said as the both of them walked off the bus.

"Tomorrow is Monday!" groaned Daniela. She was laying on her bed reading a book. "It's been three days now. When is feeling going away?" Daniela asked herself. She put the book on her stomach and stared at the ceiling. "I should probably go to bed now." Daniela got up and turned off the lights. She sat on her bed and checked her phone. 10:13 her phone read. She put down her cell phone and started to crawl into bed. Ding! Daniela jumped. "Oh my gosh that totally startled me!" whispered Daniela. She got out and looked at her phone. A smile came upon Daniela's face. A message from Louis! Daniela exclaimed in her thoughts, but this late? She quickly checked the text message. The smile quickly disappeared. Daniela's eyes widened. The strange feeling went away, but was replaced with a stab in the heart.

I'm sorry we are breaking up but we can still be friends

Daniela's hands trembled as she held her phone. Her eyes watered. Tears burned down her face and they fell on her phone's screen where it lay the message. I don't get it, why?? Why are we breaking up? I don't understand. My heart hurts so much. Daniela didn't know how to respond to Louis' text. She typed in the only word she could think of. Ok. Daniela closed her eyes tight, trying to stop the tears. Was that really what she wanted? Is that really all she wanted to say? Or was there more? Was there more to what her heart had said to her? We might never know. Have you ever heard of the saying, let your heart guide you? Daniela had heard what her heart was telling her, but she didn't understand. She didn't understand what these feeling we're doing to her. It's strange, what your heart can do or say to you. Daniela was ignorant enough not to listen or ask. Was she to refuse, or do as she was told? Daniela lay on her bed, crying. She kept a grip on her phone. Daniela quietly cried on top of her bed. She cried herself to sleep. Her tears dried on her face and she lay on her bed, sleeping peacefully.
