How eternity trapped her

How eternity trapped her
Medusa was then bound to remain in the hidden deep seas. Numerous warriors came to slaughter her for she was no longer known as the beautiful Medusa, rather she now is the hideous Gorgon Medusa.
Among the various warriors and men who tried to kill Medusa but got killed brutally themselves, Perseus was one of them. Perseus was a demigod, son of Zeus. The men who attempted to kill the Gorgon were either beheaded, had their throats slit by Medusa's snakes or were turned to stone. But Perseus was not one of them and successfully beheaded Medusa. On doing so, Medusa who was pregnant with Poseidon's children died. However, on dying, her children sprang from her body. That is how she gave birth to Pegasus the winged horse and Chrysaor the young giant.

For ages after, Medusa was known for her beauty and is always portrayed as the hideous Gorgon. It is pitiable how no one knows why and how she came to be a monstrous snake-like creature. No one remembers her as the beautiful Medusa because eternity trapped her as a Gorgon!

yea i found it cruel of athena to do that too and i think poseidon should have been the one to be punished but i guess what makes the story interesting is medusa being the victim etc :)
