Chapter 10
"But-But- It's got frills!" "I can see that!" I try to muffle a laugh as I stare at Alex in a black blazer with a frilly pink shirt and black breeches. Eventually, I crack and I start laughing uncontrollably. Tess gives me a look, before saying kindly, "Well I think you look dashing Alex." Alex blushes, storming behind the dressing screen and flinging off all his clothes. A posh clothes-maker sniffs at him, clearly not happy about having two servants in her house. "Well, Mr Alex, what would you suggest wearing?" She says stiffly. "You do know that outfit is actually the current fashion these days. I keep my clothes updated." "For bloody sake these breeches show every single outline of my lower part- Even my bloody bum-crack!" The lady and Tess gasp at the language, but this sets me off laughing even more, so much that my cheeks start to sting. "Wouldn't mind seeing that!" I flirt. "I know." The snobby lady gives me a look. "Mr Alex, I will not allow such foul, disrespectful language in here." Alex emerges from behind the dressing screen. "Hey, I wasn't disrespecting anyone!" I shrug. "Technically, the breeches." "That's not a person!" I stick my tongue out at him. "I never said it was." "Yeh but you just-"The snobby women slaps her hand against her wrinkled forehead. "Let's move onto the dresses, shall we?"

"It's perfect!" The old women gasps as Tess proceeds from behind the same dressing screen. She's slipped on a perfect, golden-yellow empire waist ball gown. The colour compliments her hair, skin tone and eyes wonderfully, and seeing as it flows right under your bust, it covers up an un perfect figure. It emphasises her large bust (her good future) and hides her pear figure. (Her bad feature.) It looks perfect on her, and everyone is the room is in silence. Alex looks at her properly for the first time, and they share a look. I don't like Alex seeing her look all prettied up, maybe even prettier than me! Stop looking at each other! Just stop! "Perfect! Slip it off now so that Madame Dalphine can wrap it up." Tess continues staring at Alex. "Alright."
After hours of trying on different dresses, Madame Dalphine inviting other dress makers to come over and offer some of their designs, nothing seem to work. Everything emphasises my flat-chest and nothing emphasises my perfect figure. I'm at the point of ripping my hair out. I NEED to find the perfect gown for Alex to see me in it! Thousands of gowns have been tried on and then yanked off, the most embarrassing part is that Alex has seen everything. All of it.
Madame Dalphine suddenly perks up. "I've got an idea, your highness. I've just been making a design, it's still uncompleted, but I, well, it might fit you." "Bring it here!" I order, in a vile mood. She blushes. "The dress is a bit, well, unlady-like-" "JUST BRING IT!" Alex stares at me, amused. "Thank god their are no lakes around." I narrow my eyes at him. "Yes, good for YOU!" "Not really, seaweed looks good in my hair." Then suddenly, he stares at me. "I never thought you were the sort of girl that cares about her looks so much. You seemed so care-free." Heart thumping, I stand up. I can't tell him the truth, so I lie. "I'm a princess, for goodness sake Alex! I represent the whole kingdom. Pressure much?" Actually, that's part true. Alex suddenly nods, understanding. "Yeah, I'm being an ass."
Madame Dalphine rushes into the room, a silky blue dress in her arms. I snatch it off her, knowing I'm being a bit spoilt, and step behind the dressing screen. Gently, I slip It on, praying it looks right. (NOTE: THE DRESS CLARA SLIPPED ON WAS 'A CAP FISH TAIL DRESS') I peek at myself in the long mirror, and gasp. It hugs every single curve in my body and seeing as it's a cap dress, (It has tiny princess sleeves like Cinderella or snow white) it doesn't emphasise my small bust. The blue goes great with my tumbling hair and eyes. It's perfect. A grin stretching from ear to ear, I skip outside the dressing screen, so they can all see.
Silence fills the room, somehow music to my ears. Alex whistles and Tess squeals. "It was so worth the wait, Clara."
