Chapter 34- Solus
I walked away from Ash, leaving them by themselves in the clearing. It was the first time I had kissed a girl, or anybody for that matter. But that wasn't what was on my mind. I focused on the fight that will be fast approaching. I glanced behind me and saw ash looking down at her hand. I sighed, then raised my wings and flew off. She didn't need my help to get back.
As I flew, I thought about How I was going to possibly beat at least three demons all with intense training to kill me. I sighed and shook my head. I had somewhere else I needed to be.
I landed in a empty park and glance around. I didn't sense anyone. Pleased, I stood in the middle and chanted under my breathe in my native tongue.
"...come thou demon of two"
a dark blob appeared in the air and expanded to a dark portal. Scratch fell out, flipping midair, and landed on his feet roughly. He looked relieved, like this happened before and he was glad not to hit the ground.
I glared at him.
"What were you doing with ash?"
"how did you summon me..?"
"A old trick I learned when summoning demons. Now explain. "
"She deserves to know what was going on."
"Like? "
"The fact your dad is the son of a king."
I narrowed my eyes.
"I don't know my dad."
"His name was bane right?"
I went dead silent. I knew his name, all right. And I didn't like how he knew that one bit. My mom used to say that Bane was noble and fierce, yet gentle and kind. Intelligent even. Even though I never met my blood father, I still remember the glow of his power. The warmth of his smile. The feeling of safety..
"How do you know that?"
"We demons have many secrets."
I didn't even hesitate. I pulled out my sword and put it against his throat. The movement was so swift he shouldn't have even registered it in time.
He didn't look surprised at all. In fact, it looked like he had just confirmed something.
"Tell me what kind of secrets you have before I kill you."
"You won't."
"You don't know that."
"Let me rephrase that. You CAN'T." Scratch moved the sword from his neck. There was a thin trickle of blood from where I placed it, but nothing more. He spoke again.
"I know what you are. I know what you can do. And you can't in your right mind kill ANYONE, even if they will kill you."
He stepped forward, looking me in the eyes. I glared at him silently. He whispered
"And that is why they will kill you tonight."
"You speak as if you weren't part of their group-"
"I'm not. Not really. Do I look like I'm one of them?"
"...Yes."
Scratch sighed and turned away from me.
"well I'm not, and I never will be. Their struggles, their...Their IDEA of a paradise... it doesn't fit mine."
I smirked, amused.
"Then what's your idea of paradise?"
"Being myself in a world that accepts me. Just like you."
I went quiet again. I knew what it felt like being in a world that despises you. I mumbled.
"Who said that's my dream?"
"Because if it wasn't, you wouldn't be helping so many people."
I once again got the urge to threaten him, or punch him even, but I didn't. It was scary that he knew so much about me from simple observations. He knew more about me then even I knew about myself. Instead of shock or surprise even, I got a spark of anger. Frustration. Fear. My enemies shouldn't know me.
"Tell me this, then... Why are you on our side?"
Scratch raised an eyebrow. "Who said I'm on your side, dear angel?"
"Who says your not?"
Scratch chuckled weakly.
"I get your meaning. Well, I'm helping Ash because you guys are my only chance of freeing myself from my shackles."
"Are you not helping me?"
Scratch smiled coldly.
"No. Your only part of the deal. Though... I would like to be friends with you, at least in part."
"Friends is going a little too far. Allies more like it."
"Allies it is then." We shook hands. His were as cold as he was. He kept many secrets, but I didn't have time for them.
I turned away and walked a few steps before stopping and saying over my shoulder.
"If you betray us, I'll--"
"I know. You'll kill me. But I'll have you know I would never betray Ash. Not as long as I have my conscience."
I relaxed a bit. Facing away from him, I raised my wings to the sky and took off, trying to put as much distance from that encounter as I could.
I wish I had stayed, however.

Chapter 9 is done
After all, I am a whiz with quizzes
Susie went on a walk across See More the park. Suddenly--
The word 'suddenly' adds suspense, and makes you want to know what happens next. You read on, often quicker, to match the pace of the story.
When your ending a chapter, put something that finishes your thought, yet has potential to open up the next chapter. I'm not sure how to make an example of this, so just look at the last sentence or words at the end of my chapters. It SHOULD make you think, make you wonder, what is going to happen next. Or even make some theories in your head for later in the book.
Out of curiosity, what do you think is going to happen next in my book?
@moonston
I hope I'm not confusing. that's one tip.
@moonston
For example, Ash (which can be a boy or a girl), has problems with their magic, and feels like Solus is kind and mysterious. She thinks he is powerful, but holding See More back.
In Solus's opinion (which I don't want to spoil anything so I'll be vague), doesn't feel right in the class. He is different, and everyone knows he's differernt, so he hides his secrets and thoughts well. In chapter 7, he starts taking more notice in Ash, cause she helped him.
@moonston
I'm really glad you like chapter 6, I wasn't sure about it
