Chapter 22- Dark eyes, Bright smile
I opened my eyes. Sunlight streamed through the window, illuminating the room. It was bright out, and everything seemed peaceful. That was when I realized that Solus was not next to me."Solus?" I whispered. I sat up and stretched, yawning. I slipped out of bed and made my way to the door. Just before I touched the handle I froze. Everything seemed a little too quiet. When nothing happened at first, I opened the door and went out.
The house was small, yet cozy. But there was a air to it that didn't seem right. I walked down the short hall and turned the corner. Then I stopped in my tracks.
There was remains of a smashed bottle on the floor, like that from a alboholic bottle. I crouched and touched it softly so it wouldn't cut my fingers. There was blood on the end.
"Morning."
I jumped, looking up. Solus was standing not far away, rubbing his arm.
"Morning.. what happened here?"
"Nothing. Here, let me clean up."
I moved out of the way as he picked up a nearby broom and started sweeping the bits of glass from the floor. I patiently watched, my curiosity growing. Finally I couldn't help but ask.
"Please tell me what happened. It looks like something bad happened."
He was facing away from me, but I saw him stop as he hesitated. He sighed.
"I don't really want to talk about it."
I shut my mouth. I knew from last time that he wouldn't give up any secrets without a fight. And I'm not in the mood for one.
We were quiet as he finished cleaning the floor, then he threw away the pieces of glass. I noticed he was wearing a t-shirt to cover his bandages, and I silently wondered how hard it must be buying shirts with holes for his wings.
Then Solus spoke, "How are you feeling?"
Slightly confused, I said "I'm alright."
"Ok.. Well.. I don't think you can stay at my house much longer."
"Why?"
"My step dad he... Doesn't like visitors. And he might figure out your here." He sounded different, uneasy. I felt a pit form in my stomach.
"Ok..."
"Ok. There's another thing."
"What?"
"School."
My eyes widened. I had completely forgotten about it.
"Do we have school today?" I asked nervously.
"Yeah. If we hurry, we can make it."
"How? Your house is so far.."
"You'll see."

Chapter 9 is done
After all, I am a whiz with quizzes
Susie went on a walk across See More the park. Suddenly--
The word 'suddenly' adds suspense, and makes you want to know what happens next. You read on, often quicker, to match the pace of the story.
When your ending a chapter, put something that finishes your thought, yet has potential to open up the next chapter. I'm not sure how to make an example of this, so just look at the last sentence or words at the end of my chapters. It SHOULD make you think, make you wonder, what is going to happen next. Or even make some theories in your head for later in the book.
Out of curiosity, what do you think is going to happen next in my book?
@moonston
I hope I'm not confusing. that's one tip.
@moonston
For example, Ash (which can be a boy or a girl), has problems with their magic, and feels like Solus is kind and mysterious. She thinks he is powerful, but holding See More back.
In Solus's opinion (which I don't want to spoil anything so I'll be vague), doesn't feel right in the class. He is different, and everyone knows he's differernt, so he hides his secrets and thoughts well. In chapter 7, he starts taking more notice in Ash, cause she helped him.
