Chapter 17- The Awakening
Where am I? Why is everything.. Soft and dark?I opened my eyes. I was in someone else's bed, in someone else's room, in someone else's house. My head felt clear, but what happened?
There was that little argument with Solus.. then the demon... then the whip.. and--
"Solus!" I sat up straight in bed. I rubbed my head. I didn't remember much.. Maybe I blacked out?
I looked around. It was a small, clean room. The shutter in a nearby window were half closed, sending bars of soft light across the room. There was a fish tank with a few fish idly swimming by, a dresser, a side table, and a closet. There was a basket full of dirty laundry in the closet, and a picture frame on the side table.
I picked up the picture frame and looked at it. There was a woman with pure white angel wings smiling. She had a white gold halo, and beautiful colorful eyes. She also had long dark hair. She looked familiar, but I couldn't place where.
I stepped out of bed. The wood floor felt warm. I looked down and realized I was wearing the same clothes as... whenever I passed out.
The thought scared me. How long was I asleep for?
My clothes smelled and felt clean, which meant someone washed it. I went to the door and reached for the handle.
A angry voice behind it stopped me. Curiosity took over, and I pressed my ear to the door to hear it better.
It was a man. His accent was Woodfolk. He was yelling about something screwing up. or.. someone?
Suddenly I flinched as something glass shattered on the other side of the door. I heard steps coming towards the door and backed away.
It opened and I saw Solus. He had a bronze coloured black eye, and he moved his arms a little oddly. I didn't hesitate. I ran to him and hugged him tight.
He bit his lip, almost crying out from pain, but managed a small smile. I pulled away and looked at him.
"Solus? Are you ok?"
He quickly closed the door behind him and sighed.
"Not really."
"Show me where your hurt."
"Ash it's really--"
"Please."
After a moment of hesitation he nodded. He lifted his shirt up, and I saw bandages around his stomach and sides. He was badly bruised, and he had numerous bandaids placed across his body, including one on his cheek I had failed to notice before.
I whimpered. How is he still walking around fine? He is so hurt... Whatever wounds are under his bandages look like they were bad enough to kill. Deep inside, I felt guilty. This must be my fault for leading that demon on...
Solus hugged me, pulling me to his chest and comforting me. I felt a few tears escape, getting lost in his bandages.
"I-I'm so sorry... w-what happened w-with Alex..?"
Solus didn't answer. He just kept comforting me. I felt like some part of him was using me for comfort as well, knowing that I was alright.
I felt terrible.

Susie went on a walk across See More the park. Suddenly--
The word 'suddenly' adds suspense, and makes you want to know what happens next. You read on, often quicker, to match the pace of the story.
When your ending a chapter, put something that finishes your thought, yet has potential to open up the next chapter. I'm not sure how to make an example of this, so just look at the last sentence or words at the end of my chapters. It SHOULD make you think, make you wonder, what is going to happen next. Or even make some theories in your head for later in the book.
Out of curiosity, what do you think is going to happen next in my book?
@moonston
I hope I'm not confusing. that's one tip.
@moonston
For example, Ash (which can be a boy or a girl), has problems with their magic, and feels like Solus is kind and mysterious. She thinks he is powerful, but holding See More back.
In Solus's opinion (which I don't want to spoil anything so I'll be vague), doesn't feel right in the class. He is different, and everyone knows he's differernt, so he hides his secrets and thoughts well. In chapter 7, he starts taking more notice in Ash, cause she helped him.
