Chapter 15- Book Brain
The rest of the day was boring. Normal classes, normal feelings, except it was a little brighter with Solus there. I still felt responsible for the science catastrophe, and it bothered me. Sometimes I caught Solus looking at me worried, but he would go back to what he was doing. I knew he could sense something was off.I sighed, frustrated I messed up on another math problem. I rested my forehead on my desk. Solus looked at me, then looked back at his work. After a moment he put his wing around me. It felt comforting, and I felt a bit better knowing he didn't blame me for the science disaster.
After school, I waited by the entrance. I saw Solus walk out. He looked up and raised his wings, and I knew he was about to fly away.
"Solus!" He looked up. I ran over
"Hey, what's up?" he lowered his wings again, but kept them ready.
"Can I stay over at your house to study? The math test is coming up and I'm worried about failing."
Solus hesitated.
"What about your house?"
I shook my head. "My dad doesn't like it when I bring friends over."
Solus hesitated for a split second. "My step-dad is the s-same."
There was something else about his step-dad that he still wasn't telling me. It made me annoyed, but I didn't show it.
"How about we go to the hill? It's got a beautiful view, and the forecast is sunny today."
Solus smiled.
"That sounds perfect."
We sat on top of the grassy hill, looking at the view. It looked over a nearby lake, and it was beautiful. The light reflecting off the waves, the color of the sky... A perfect study place.
Solus was writing in his binder, filling in answers and telling me how he got them. After awhile I sighed and laid back. Solus stopped.
"You alright?" He asked, worried.
"Fine. Just.. My brains not working."
"We can do this later then." He started packing up his supplies.
"Why are you so nice to me?" I asked, curious.
"Cause I can actually talk to you without fear of you backstabbing me."
I sat up "what?"
Solus sighed.
"Nevermind.."

Chapter 9 is done
After all, I am a whiz with quizzes
Susie went on a walk across See More the park. Suddenly--
The word 'suddenly' adds suspense, and makes you want to know what happens next. You read on, often quicker, to match the pace of the story.
When your ending a chapter, put something that finishes your thought, yet has potential to open up the next chapter. I'm not sure how to make an example of this, so just look at the last sentence or words at the end of my chapters. It SHOULD make you think, make you wonder, what is going to happen next. Or even make some theories in your head for later in the book.
Out of curiosity, what do you think is going to happen next in my book?
@moonston
I hope I'm not confusing. that's one tip.
@moonston
For example, Ash (which can be a boy or a girl), has problems with their magic, and feels like Solus is kind and mysterious. She thinks he is powerful, but holding See More back.
In Solus's opinion (which I don't want to spoil anything so I'll be vague), doesn't feel right in the class. He is different, and everyone knows he's differernt, so he hides his secrets and thoughts well. In chapter 7, he starts taking more notice in Ash, cause she helped him.
