Chapter 14- Shield

The person lead me to a eyewash station. I shoved my eyes in the water and cleaned them. When I was done, I could see clearly again. I blinked a few times, then my eyes widened.
The whole classroom was trashed, mushroom clouds and burn marks everywhere from when students ran from the original chemi-bomb. But all I could think of was about how much trouble I'll be in.
"Oh god.. This is all my fault"
"No, its mine" I flinched and turned to see Solus standing behind me. He was dirty from ash and he smelled like chemicals, but he looked ok.
Henry walked up, smirking.
"Ha, I saw what you did there Ash. You big klutz!" He started laughing, and Solus growled. He looked around at the still chaotic room, then punched Henry in the nose. Henry fell, holding his bloody nose and cursing.
"What the hell was that for!"
"Keep your opinions to yourself." Solus went outside the classroom, where everyone else was heading. I followed. By doing that small action of possibly breaking Henry's nose, he gave me a whole new level of respect for him.

"Ok class, until we get this cleaned up class is cancelled."
Everyone cheered.
"However, I don't expect you to do nothing. Take a shower, get changed, then review your notes. Please."
Everyone walked away to do their own things. I followed Solus yet again. He took his shirt off just before he entered the boys changeroom, trying to take the chemicals away from his body.
"Solus."
He turned and looked at me. I took one look at him and felt my face go hot. He was nothing like what I imagined. Instead of being skinny and weak looking like I expected, he was fit. REALLY fit. I stared at him until he shuffled his feet.
"What?"
"U-um.. T-thanks. H-henry w-was.. I-I mean.." I stuttered, distracted and embarrassed.
"Its nothing. Can I take a shower now?" He seemed oblivious to my staring at his faint 6 pack.
"U-um.. Y-yeah."
"Oh and Ash?"
"Y-yes..?"
"If Henry picks on you again, tell me." He went into the changeroom. I shook my head, snapping out of it.
Solus was so kind, so protective.. It was like he was my shield or something.
The thought made me happy. I went to the girls changeroom, humming a tune.
