Why must you love someone enough to let them go?

Because if you truly love someone, you will want them to be happy. Even if that means they aren't with you. And no matter how much it hurts you, if you love them you would rather have them happy away from you than not as happy but with you. There's a point when you love them but not enough to put their happiness completely above your own. When you reach the point when you love them enough to let them go in order to be happy, then that's when you know you truly love them.

I once loved someone so much, i wasn't ready to settle or be in any relationship because i was emotionally unstable and it affected my academics and that of my partner who also got admission far away from me. I was understanding enough to know that i shouldn't tie him down, there was a need for both of us to face the life we saw at the time, it was hard to let go, but i had to.
why should i hold him back coz i love him so much when i had already seen that so many shit could See More possibly go on as a result of my absence. or i should have forced him to deny his admission coz i love him so much?
