You see, after spongebob lost his job at the krusty krabs he couldn't pay the bills, he had to sell the house to mr. krabs for some money, Patrick won it big time and got a bigger house on the other side of the ocean, squidward died from choking on a fork, so spongebob had to live on the streets, mr. Krabs had to open a new restaurant that sold baked goods at spongebobs old place, he made a great profit off of it, since spongebob couldn't make krabby patties any more mr. Krabs See More gave the formula to plankton, he has Karen making and delivering food, he now lives at spongebobs house. There's your answer, plankton lives in a pineapple under the sea.
