Squirrelflight didn't feel the same way. Ashfur made the mistake of loving too much and felt like Squirrel should love him back. Squirrel only considered themselves friends.

SPOILER ALERT
Guys, be aware that Ashfur tried to kill her sisters kits, her father, and herself. They were good friends at first then he loved her, Squirrelflight politely rejected his feelings then Ashfur went bonkers. He, like I said, tried to kill her, her father, and her sister's kits. Hollyleaf was warrior code crazy and then she killed Ash out of anger See More

It should have worked out then Jayfeather Hollyleaf and Lionblaze would have never found out that they were not her kits in the fire and Leafpool would still be a medicine cat so Hollyleaf would have stayed in the clan
