Elementism Manifesto

Elementism is a religion which I have come up with. It is the belief in the four main elements - Earth, Fire, Water, and Air - as things to "worship." Technically, we do not worship them, but we do things like find our element, connect with it, and respect the environment. It is a religion that you can have along with another religion, but you don't have to. Anyway, this story will explain the beliefs and practices of Elementism.

Elementism Beliefs

For those of you out there who believe that the Earth started naturally, without a higher power, you know that the four natural elements helped. They really can't be considered gods, because of paradoxes (which I have explained in numerous posts, and they are not relevant to explain now) and also because they're natural. Earth includes rocks, trees, plants, and animals, and there is no arguing that before humans, there were plants, bacteria, animals, rocks, and such. Fire includes, well, flames, blazes, forest fires, campfires, lava... it's self-explanatory.
Also, before any life was on Earth, there were volcanoes everywhere, spewing lava and poisonous gases. Which leads us to Air. Air includes air, wind, clouds... those types of things. Once the lava calmed down and it rained for millions of years, the air allowed for simple life forms. And about the rain, that was Water. Water includes rain, lakes, oceans, rivers, seas, streams, ponds... you name it. Water also includes Ice. Ice is a secondary element associated with Water. Light is connected to Air, Darkness is connected to Fire, and Healing is connected to Earth. But that's not relevant now.
Anyway, we can all agree that Earth, Fire, Water, and Air played major roles in the history of the Earth. That is why Elementaries (followers of Elementism) connect with the four natural elements. We don't necessarily believe that they are gods, just that they have been here much longer than us. We appreciate the beauty of nature, and never disturb the elements. Also, we specifically connect with our element.

This is a lot like something I made up about a year ago. I like this, but in mine I have more animals and spirits, and stuff for other things. Good job, you have just motivated me to put a story on my Qfest with my version of it. Thx

This is... cool... But... You aren't actually serious about it "being a religion" that you came up with, right? Because it's not true. I do like the idea of the Elements, though, and I think I'd be air. :)

I am serious about it being a religion.

And you wanna know what's not true? An ancient book that contradicts itself is not true!

:) I know.

It's fine. I understand. And I didn't mean to offend you either. :)

OK... Sorry, I guess this is just kind of weird. I've been raised as a Christian, so the whole idea of just inventing a religion based on the elements... I defies my sense of logic so much I think I'm going to explode.

And normally, I'd defend the fact that "the Bible doesn't contradict itself", etc., but I'm actually starting to wonder, so I'm not going to See More
