Ephemeral

Warning! Probably swearing, maybe some other themes. Nothing too major but uh, yeah. Just a temporary title for a series of drabbles, mostly between two of my OCs. To be edited and revised. Majorly. Still, it'll be fine, probably. Read if you'd like, or don't.

Scenario #5 [Mello x Theo]

Synopsis: Meliodas Death Timeline X17. After the Healing Encounter

It had been a bloody and brutal battle, but they had won. Still, the sacrifice was far too great. The angel knelt on the ground, fingers running through what was white hair, now drenched in blood. Crystalline tears ran down his face, but he couldn't find the strength to gather his magic and try healing the man lying in his lap. No matter how many times he cursed or prayed.

"Y-You're a fool, Meliodas...I told you to stop provoking people into fights," the angel whispered, the words spoken with sorrow, nostalgia reflecting in his eyes. The demon let out a hoarse, raspy laugh before proceeding to cough up blood.

"I-If it meant dying but saving y-you, I'd do it a thousand times over, and besides, I e-ended up in your arms," the demon replied despite the blood trailing from their cracked lips.

"Please, don't go," Theodore pleaded. In response, Meliodas raised a trembling hand, wiping away Theodore's tears with his thumb as their magenta eyes, now no longer as vibrant; the aftermath of such a bloody war, scanned the angel's pale face, the same face of that naive angel who had cared for him and believed, even if be himself were found guilty by others. His angel. His only regret was that he never got to confess. Still, he was content. He knew he'd never enter Heaven, but he remained hopeful of the fact that they'd meet again. With that last thought, he breathed his last.

Theodore held Meliodas hand to his cheek, staring down at the demon with conflicted feelings. He was hopeful, wishing that it was all some horrible dream they'd wake up from. It wasn't. It was real. When he felt the hand in his grasp slowly lose their warmth, he knew it was too late. Placing the demon's hands over his chest, one crossed over the other, he shut Meliodas' eyes. He couldn't bear to stare at them, those glassy eyes so devoid of life.
