Chapter 4
Rick awoke to a bird chirping above, hunger clawed at his belly when he saw it, but he knew it was pointless. The blood stains from the fight over Holly never washed of the bed, reminding him of his epic failure at success. Rick tossed these thoughts aside and went in search of prey, he managed to catch a scrawny old sparrow and a weak sickly mouse. But he devoured them as if they were a plate of fancy feast."Life, what do you have to take from me next!" Rick yelled, he was at the foot of the oak tree again, with the same tears pouring down his cheeks. It had taken his family, his humans, the only world he ever known, and soon, his own life.
Rick dodged the cars as he made his way to the other side of the road, this was becoming part of his daily routine, he was sick of it. Rick's coat had become so matted and tangled, you wondered if it was a cat at all, he was so skinny he could fit through a drain pipe with ease. He curled up in his little corner of the alley and snapped angrily at every slightest movement, but he soon tired out and went to sleep, with dreams of the good days when he was back with his humans, when he would've never dreamt of this disaster.
