Lindsey
I could hear the roar of thunder as I lay in my bed awake. The full moon shone through my window and brightened up my room. The rain pattered on the roof as my father's car pulled into the driveway. At least I thought it was my father's car. Of course it wasn't my mother. She died before I was born. I never actually found out how she died. My father never told me.---
I heard a crash in the kitchen. Then a voice. A man's voice, not my father's. That was when a rush of terror ran through me. About a minute later, someone was walking up the steps, towards my bedroom. I panicked. What if this man was a murderer? All I could think of doing was jumping out the window. Well, not really jumping. More like climbing down the drainpipe. That was when I heard him say my name.
---
I just ran. My coffee brown hair flying behind me. I followed the moon. That was all I could trust at the time. It was still raining. I didn't stop running until I got to the other side of the lake in front of my house. I jumped in and swam until I couldn't swim anymore. By this, I mean I fell unconscious.
