Redclaw's power

Redclaw's power         Amberpaw was half way through his second moon as an apprentice and today he was going on his first patrol. Ravenaster said they'd do border patrol later this week, and for now they would do hunting patrol. His dad Redclaw had been talking with him more, and it was becoming the part of each week Amberpaw dreaded. Amberpaw was hoping he could ask Ravenaster for some advice, though he doubted Ravenaster knew much less had experience in working with a dad like his.
"I will lead a hunting patrol with Deermist, Ravenaster, and Amberpaw" Redclaw meowed as he finished up the other patrols, Amberpaw sighed miserably his dad would make this a chance to talk. Ravenaster nodded at Redclaw and followed him out of the camp with the patrol. The patrol padded through the forest headed towards the Great Oak tree, it was cooler today as Leaf Fall waited less than a moon away. Redclaw stopped them only a few paw steps from the Great Oak, "Ravenaster you and Deermist hunt near the stream, and Amberpaw will hunt with me". "I mean no offense, but I'm his mentor. Shouldn't I be hunting with him?" Ravenaster stared at Redclaw suspiciously. Redclaw frowned, "It's good for Amberpaw to practice hunting with others, and learn how to be independent". Ravenaster shook his head not wanting to argue with the deputy, but picking up how he was Amberpaw's father and that what Redclaw had said hadn't made much sense.
Amberpaw watched as his mentor walked off into the trees, and realized his first patrol was going to be ruined. "Come on Amberpaw get to hunting, if you don't catch more then two pieces of prey you'll never become a great warrior" Redclaw growled and pushed Amberpaw towards the Great Oak. After catching two mice, a squirrel, and a robin Redclaw sat him down. "How is training going with that mousebrained cat?" Redclaw asked, "If I was leader I would give you an actual warrior to mentor you". Amberpaw looked down to keep his anger from exploding out and quietly answered, "He's a good mentor and he has taught me well. Ravenaster isn't mousebrained he is wise".
Redclaw snorted half amused half angered, "He has rubbed off on you, I see you talking with those cats at gatherings. Tell me what the warrior code says?". "It says warriors must stay loyal to their clan" Amberpaw meowed carefully. "And if you do that you become a great warrior, but if you start to feel more loyal to them than your clan bad things happen. Like in battle when you have to fight, do you help your clan or let your 'friend' kill you?" Redclaw circled Amberpaw like a piece of prey, "Amberpaw I know you, you want to be become the best warrior. So, make it happen".
Redclaw left Amberpaw sitting their as he ran off to get the others, he felt weak as if all his bones had turned to mush. Suddenly he didn't feel so eager to get Ravenaster's advice, and when he came back with Deermist Amberpaw ignored him. Plus, Ravenaster looked a little to happy to have hunted with Deermist instead of him. The rest of the afternoon he felt dark and heavy.
