"I haven't seen my mum since seven o'clock last night," I explain
"Oh, well I guess you will be able to see her after school then," Dan says. I shake my head
"Mum left a note on the bench today saying that she has a friend in need and she won't be back for two days," I tell him. He looks like he doesn't know how to fix my problem as well. He pushes his lunch away.
"I'm not hungry anymore," he mumbles. With that he stands up and goes to the cafeteria door.
"Da-" I stop myself. He needs some time alone. I decide to head to the girls bathroom to check on Autumn and Shannon.
"Oh my god!" I hear. It's Shannon. I walk round the corner and in.
"Oh my god what?" I ask. They both turn to see me and smile.
"Oh my god something awesome happened to Autumn," Shannon squeals barley able to hold it in.
"What? tell me?" I order. Shannon looks at Autumn as if waiting to see if she wanted to say it. Autumn was staying silent
"Lukas, get ready to puke, kissed Autumn!!" Shannon squeals again.
"Wow that's amazing Autumn," I say. "Oh come on Autumn, smile" I see Autumn smile a bit, "Gotcha!" I tease. We all stand there and laugh until the dreaded question comes from Autumns mouth.
"Where's Dan?"
I tell them everything.
"So he just walked away?" Autumn asks. I nod. She looks at me sympathetically. I can feel tears pushing against my eyes, begging to come out.
"Do you like him?" Shannon asks.
"As in like, like him," Autumn adds. I listen to my heart not my mind and make my decision before my mind tells me not to too. I feel my head slowly go up and down. I suddenly have a mental breakdown in the girls bathroom.
"Come with me! We are going to go find a seat while Shannon finds Dan!" Autumn orders.
"No," I say, "I'll find Dan," Autumn and Shannon look at each other, then at me,
"Ok"
