More than Blood

Chapter 2 - Getting older

        Shadow and I swayed our tails impatiently as we waited for mother and the elders but they soon came in the room and began the ritual and they decided to mark us in unison for honor of the chosen marks. The held up a bowl of a strange blue liquid and the Marking tool then lowered them then they dipped the tool and Mother held out the back of mine and Shadow's left paws then the pressed the tools on them and i feel it burning my hand and i try to endure it but i wince and whimper some and soon they removed the tool and mother let go of our paws and we held our paws until the pain subsided then we looked at the marks and we both had a bright glowing blue wolf paws and Shadow and i look at the marks in awe.

        soon the ceremony was coming to an end and Shadow and I had to choose our gift of power and I chose the gift of speed and then I watched Shadow choose the gift of Chaos and then we went to the festival with Mother and we enjoyed ourselves for the rest of the day until it was time to go home then Mother walked us home and quickly put us to bed and before I laid down I glanced over at the calendar and it has the days crossed out and tomorrow was mine and Shadow's birthday. Mother put me to bed as quick as she could and kept telling me that tomorrow was a big day and that Shadow may be older but that doesn't matter to her, she loves us just the same.
