After arriving at the studio, I unloaded most of my possessions to where Kermit had told me to. One picture of myself wound up missing, but I was sure I had accidentally dropped it or forgot it. The theater was bustling preparing for a new show. It was life-changing to see the behind-the-scenes of their shows in person. It was just as chaotic as I had imagined.
A couple of muppets walked up to me. Gonzo and Fozzie, two of the biggest muppets I would say. "Ahhh it's the new dog our friend was talking about!" Fozzie smiled. He was referring to Kermit most likely. "It's great to meet you!" Gonzo followed. "It's a pleasure to meet you as well," I said, trying to look as friendly as I can. I definitely felt less nervous now that I had spent a couple of days with Rowlf, but I was still terrified of messing up. Speaking of Rowlf, I saw him on the opposite side of the room talking to a small group about something.
"So, what acts will you be performing?" Fozzie asked. I wasn't planning on doing any acts, but I might as well tell the two my skills. "Hm... I'm far too nervous to go on stage, but I can play piano decently well," I told them. I glanced over at Rowlf. His head had perked up when he heard me announce that, but he quickly turned back and bit his fingers.
“Ah, must be some dog thing we don’t understand,” Gonzo shrugged his soldiers. I nodded, not wanting to mention to him I had picked up this habit from watching Rowlf. I had a keyboard in my old apartment, which I had sold with the intent of practicing on a spare piano they had laying around. They dropped pianos onto other’s heads for laughs, so they must have one working one around here somewhere.
Rowlf’s interest had definitely been piqued. His friends had seemed to walk off, but he lingered in the spot trying to listen to my conversation. I waved over at him which startled him. He waved— a bit nervously knowing I had most likely seen him eavesdropping— and walked up to me and the other two muppets.
Fozzie and Gonzo bid their farewells as Rowlf approached me. “You haven’t seen the housing quarters yet, would you like to see?” he asked me. “Of course!” I cheered a little more loudly than I should have. I couldn’t stop myself from instinctively bouncing up and down.
He led me into a large room with rows and rows of hammocks. I had known about the existence of this room, but it seemed to go on forever. Each one had a name tag under it to signify who it belonged to. I recognized most of the names at first glance, but my mind couldn’t wrap around all of them.
I walked over to one with no name tag. I was about to claim it when Rowlf yanked my arm. It wasn’t aggressive, it seemed cautionary. “Agh— I’m sorry…” I started to say. Rowlf had pulled me against him, my arms somehow wound up slung over his shoulders. I could feel his breaths rise and fall from beneath my arms.
After a moment, I stumbled back. “I already had a hammock for you Chiba,” he sternly said. He didn’t look phased in the slightest for someone who had just pressed me against him—! My face was tinted a deep shade of red again. He had to have been trying embarrassing me on purpose.
I followed him over to another section of the hammocks.  A blue hammock with a faded pattern caught my eye. The ropes attaching it to the walls were red and oddly appealing to look at. It didn’t look like the regular kind of rope you’d find, but I made sure to keep those thoughts to myself.
“Well, here’s mine!” Rowlf told me, sitting down on the hammock I had been observing.
