I grabbed trash bags out of my bathroom. I was moving out today and heading for my new job and home. No pay, but that was fine with me since this was already a dream come true. Plus I'd be living at the studio for free. Kermit insisted that he could send someone over to help me, so I tried my best to clean up my depression pit before one of my new co-workers came as to not make a bad impression on them. They were scheduled to come at 11. It was getting close, and I was excited yet nervous. I was wearing a tank top which was standard for me for cleaning and organizing. I didn't look the most attractive, but I wasn't trying to impress them with my looks anyway so it didn't matter much. I heard a knock at the door. "Coming!" I chirped walking towards the entrance. Opening it, I saw Rowlf, smiling at me.
My face burned red. I wanted to slam the door to prepare myself, but he would surely hate me. Why was Rowlf-- the one person I want to fall in love with me-- sent to my house when I look so terrible? "Hey, Chiba, I volunteered to help clean out your apartment for you," he told me. "Rowlf, you're too sweet. But why would you volunteer to help me?" I asked. I felt like the most special dog in the world.
His face turned slightly red. "Uh- well dogs help each other out, you know?" I nodded. I'm sure it was just him being friendly. He was a very helpful person, and he was super sweet and amazing... I forced my mind to stay on track. "Well, I'm not entirely sure what I'm going to need to bring," I said. Rowlf started tapping his foot-- not in a mean way, more of just a cute way-- and started listing things. "Bring your basic toiletries, keepsakes, and your clothes. We have bedding set up for you and a bathroom of course."
I made sure to memorize every word he said to me. It was a miracle he was talking to me, let alone standing in the apartment I had lived in for years now. "Okay, well you can start wherever you'd like, Rowlf," I smiled at him. He headed into my bedroom. I made sure to keep an eye on him so he didn't potentially see anything he might not enjoy.
Once I had my back turned to him for a moment, he took the opportunity to get clothes out of my closet. My ears slightly perked up as I heard a noise coming from Rowlf at the other side of the room. "These are your clothes, Chiba? They're so..." My mind raced as he paused. He didn't like them at all, I'm sure. It was stupid. Just large, poofy skirts and tons of accessories. Overly pastel colors. No one seemed to like it.
"It's really cute!"
"I know it's not great... wait you like it?" I said, puzzled at why a big dog like him was fascinated by my clothes. He was wearing some band t-shirt and shorts, which seemed like the opposite of how I dressed. He held up a rainbow skirt to his waist. "It's bright and happy, and it suits you really well," he told me. I wanted to hide my face. Did he call me bright-- or possibly-- cute? I was getting my hopes up. It was still nice to hear that from him, though.
A couple of hours passed. We had packed up all of my stuff and I was decently tired, even with the extra help of Rowlf. "Would you like something to drink? I still have some left," I asked him. Rowlf nodded. "I'll have some milk if you don't mind." I went into my cleared-out kitchen and poured a glass of milk for my guest. I made sure to grab a bottle of water for myself as well. We sat down on my bed, which was the only piece of furniture left in my apartment. "Oh, Rowlf, thank you for helping me today. I had a wonderful time," I expressed to the other dog. He glanced away for a second. "I'm glad I could be of service to you," he replied.
After we had finished our drinks, we put my suitcases into his car. It smelled like pine, which was one of my favorite scents. I climbed into the passenger's seat, keeping my legs pressed together to heal my nervousness. So much for anxiety pills, right? He sat in the driver's seat next to mine and quickly pet my head before starting the car. I loved when he did that-- I felt like I would die-- but in a good way. I was so excited to start my new job.
