Trust After a short walk

we came to a stream and dismounted our horses. When I went to secure Allena to a tree Aidan approached me.
"I saw your look when I mentioned the king," he said in a quiet voice and I turned to look at him. The look in his green eyes was kind and gentle but still dark. It made me want to tell him everything but I held my tongue and turned away from him cause if I looked into his eyes again I would tell him everything. So instead I went over to the stream and looked at my reflection. Aidan sat beside me and turned me head toward him.
"What does the king want with you?" He whispered gazing at my face with his sharp eyes missing nothing.
"He wants me..." I whispered and I broke his gaze looking back at my reflection. The hair that said a warrior but eyes that showed nothing but sadness or pain. He turned my face toward his and searched my face.
"We'll we better not let him win," he said getting up and reached out his hand as an invitation. A thunder clap sounded and I grabbed his hand so he could pull me up. We grabbed the horses and walked over instead of rode. Talking and laughing  telling jokes as old friends. When we reached the stables two boys went to care for the horses while he walked me to the hut. When he reached it a bolt of lighting lit up the sky and rain fell. Drenching us while we laughed and my family came out of the hut hearing us. They faced the sky and ran in the mud happy for the first time in a while. Iris chased Cardrew while Artin kissed Gwenn. I rested my head on Aidan's shoulder while he wrapped his arm around me before looking up to the sky. As we laughed and smiled carefree for the first time in a good long while.
