Alex's screams of anguish were like those of a wounded animal. She felt as if every cell in her body was tearing apart, killing her slowly from the inside. But no matter how hard she tried, she couldn't tear her eyes away from Skye.
Quickly, she ran towards Skye and picked her up. Placing one hand over the wound, she began walking with the group again.
"See what happens when you disrespect me?" A sinister chuckle escaped Christopher's pale lips. Alex truely thought that Skye was right. This man was wretched, swine who couldn't be loved by anyone. He was sick and twisted, pure malice;
"He is a narrow minded, cruel, disgusting bastard", she thought to herself.
It was hours later that they stopped again. By now, rain had soaked most anything that'd been within its reach. Alex grimaced as she sat down in the rain soaked soil, feeling more water seep through her already drenched trousers. She leaned over Skye's limp form, trying to keep her dry. She knew that in her current state, even a slight chill caught from this weather could easily claim her friend's life.
Alex watched with tired eyes as the assassins began to self up camp. They staked animal hide tent and into the ground and tied their horses to a few poles that were lodged into the soft ground. An involuntary yawn escaped her lips.
She was oh so very tired. This woman didn't get tired easily, but she hadn't slept in days and she'd strained herself trying to carry her dying friend. She once again gazed upon the pale face of Skye and thought to herself.
"She's dying. I have to get help. Fast."
Alex struggled to keep her eyes open as she watched the cult camp out. Christopher looked especially comfortable within the tent.
She wished she could feel the same. She wished Skye could feel the same. She listened carefully as the assassins jeered and hooted within the makeshift room. She had the person who she'd spent seven years looking for in her arms. She couldn't risk losing her for good. All she had to do was wait for the perfect moment, and run for it
