A visit from Drew
There was a knock at the door. Even though I was still in my pj’s and ugg boots I figured that it Darcy wouldn’t mind. It was 9am on a Sunday morning so I thought he would guess that I wouldn’t have dressed. I opened the door to who I thought would be Darcy. The mysterious person in the door strangely turned out to be Drew. He was holding white flowers with yellow centres. Thank goodness they weren’t red roses. Red roses would mean that he still hadn’t got over me. I must have looked very embarrassed.“Here these are for you” he said handing over the flowers. “I can come back later if you want. I told Darcy this might be too early.”
“Darcy sent you here?” I asked, intrigued.
“Yes, well I wanted to come. He filled me in with some information last night. Information about my former best mate Jarrod.” The name made me shiver.
“What did he tell you?” I said, suddenly feeling self-conscious that Drew now knew everything.
“Everything. From the start, well as far as he knew. He told me that we should still be friends and that you might need me” he said smiling.
“Why would I ever need you?” I laughed.
“You never know.” A sense of relief washed over me. We could be friends again. Just as long as I put my feelings I had for Drew aside.
“Darcy’s quite a nice guy actually. I can see you two together” Drew said but I could see he was still hurt.
“You do not know how relieved I am that we are friends again” I said to make him feel better. I meant it too. It was good I was this happy because at exactly this time Laura was devastated somewhere else...
