Jarrod is never late
WednesdayIt was the end of the day and Laura and I were walking back to our lockers, laughing about how funny I had looked when I had to do my public speaking for English about the mating of piranhas.
“And when you got the detail you were like, what? I have to say this. It was so funny and you were staring at me like, why the hell did you right this?” Laura said. We had worked in pairs and she had written the talk on the condition that I said it. Unfortunately I was unable to practice because my practice time was taken up by Becca having a mental break down and me having to take her down to nurse. The nurse had said she was faking and that she was perfectly fine, that didn’t surprise me. Anyway, because of that incident I didn’t get to practice my speech that I had never read so when I found out the topic “mating of piranhas” I was a little more than surprised.
“I know right” I said to Laura.
“Then you just started babbling. You looked so funny!” I knew she was joking but I think this joke was going on for a bit too long. I had never liked public speaking and it was the first time since Jarrod started beating me up that I had gotten the courage to do something like that.
“What are you doing now?” I asked as we turned into the locker hallway.
“I have to go to a drama meeting for my churches drama group. What about you?” she asked.
“Nothing. I’m just here until 5pm, when my mum can pick me up.”
“Can’t you walk home?” Laura asked.
“I used to but a random tried to follow me home last time and my mum kind of freaked out” I said, bending down to my locker.
“Oh well, enjoy the peace of school after school” Laura said, swing her bag onto her shoulder and walking out of the hall.
“I will” I yelled.
I would if Jarrod was late out of class. Late enough for me to leave the locker area. But I knew he wouldn’t be. Jarrod was never late
