Waking up
“Calm down. Are you alright?” Darcy asked in a concerned voice.“It was just a dream. What’s the time?”
He picked up his phone and checked the time. It was 7 in the morning. I had got 3 hours sleep, but I felt ready to get up. I didn’t want to fall asleep again in case the nightmare came back. Darcy noticed my uncomfortable look and helped me out of the bed.
“Where did Leo go last night?” I asked, worriedly.
“It’s alright, Coby dropped him off on the way back to his place” Darcy said.
“Oh, good. Have you heard from Laura?” I asked, again with a worried expression.
“Yeah she text me at 5 and said that her and Ryan would be over here at 9” he said leading me into his kitchen.
“And your sister?” I said, figuring I may as well check up on everyone who I had talked to last night. Suddenly there was a sharp pain in my leg and I collapsed on the floor. Darcy helped me the rest of the way.
“She usually gets up late” he said with a smile gesturing to the closed door.
“What would you like for breakfast?” Darcy asked, pulling out a whole bunch of cereals, toast and a pancake mixture. We had pancakes! Then we sat on his couch.
“I knew a donkey called Darcy once” I said. What was I thinking? Comparing people with animals hadn’t worked well in the past! Why did I do it now? But that guy in year 7 really looked like a goat!
“Yeah I get that a lot” he said. How could I make this better?
“But you don’t look like a donkey” I said. No! That made it worse!
Aside from that awkward conversation the morning went pretty smoothly. I loved talking to Darcy. It made me feel better, like someone actually cared.
There was a knock at the door. It was Laura and Ryan. They were holding hands. I suddenly felt sort of jealous that they were so close already. Darcy and I had only talked, apart from when he held my hand last night. We had shared a bed but he was on top of the covers for the whole night. Maybe that was for the best, I mean, I wasn’t the one who was pregnant here.
“So what did you two get up to last night?” I said cheekily.
“We’ll talk later” Laura said. I gave her a pleading look.
“Oh fine” she said pulling me away. It must have been big if she couldn’t tell me in front of them.
“I didn’t even sleep with him” Laura said.
“So where did you sleep?” I asked, confused. Maybe I was wrong to misjudge her.
“No, I slept with him, just not with him” she said laughing.
“Wait so you did or you didn’t” I said, trying to hold back my laughter.
“You know what I mean” she said. By the time the boys walked into the room we were in fits of laughter. We didn’t know whether they had heard the conversation but we honestly didn’t care.
