The glare
I got to my locker, feeling sad and withdrawn, isolated even. The day had gone worse then I had expected. I just wanted to be home, curled up on the couch with some ice cream. I put in my combination on my lock and opened it. The door swung open with a bang on Jarrod's door. I looked over at Jarrod who was staring at me with death defying eyes, like he wanted to kill me. I ignored him. Jarrod and I had once gotten along but now all we had for each other was glares. As I put my books in my bag I saw my crush, Drew in the corner of my eye. He was coming towards me. As he walked past his hand snuck into my bag and pulled out my headphones. He walked off pretending to look casual but I could see laughter in his eyes.
He did a lap of the hall and came back.
"Missing anything there Samantha?" he asked me, trying to hold his laughter in. "I found these headphones and saw they have your name on them" he spoke, holding out the headphones and pointing at the name for me to see. "Yes I think they are mine" I said laughing. I reached out to grab them but Drew pulled them away. "You're gonna have to come and get it if you want it" he smiled, running off. I ran after him. I was laughing for the first time for the week. That's what I loved about Drew, he always made me laugh. Not to mention he was attractive, gorgeous, hot, did I mention he was good looking? I'll quit going on but he was all of those things and more. Unfortunately he wasn't always around. He was a keen runner and was often running during lunch to practice. He was fit and muscly but sometimes I wished that he wasn't so obsessed with running as I never got to see him for too long. I had to fight hard to get my headphones back but eventually I got there. We collapsed in a pile of laughter, I don't think I've ever been so happy as I was at that moment. Which was probably good because what followed this was a mountain of pain.
