Dad
Sesa drove up to the ratty apartment building, getting eyed from the local gang-bangers and drug dealers."She lives here? Man, no wonder she doesnt talk to anyone."
It wasnt exactly a bad nieghborhood, but it was bad enough to where if you left your window unlocked, you could get robbed.
Elise unlocked the door to her apartment and found her dad shuffling through the bills and his colledge work.
"Hey, Dad." She says quietly, setting her backpack on the rack. He glances up, then gives a small grunt.
"That bad?" She asks, sitting across from him.
Dad shakes his head, rubbing his temples and grumbling avout the rent being too damned high.
"Dad, I have a boy coming over. Please dont.... You know... Antagonize him. Please?"
Dad looked at her, then grumbled sure, as long as it wasnt an Okomota.
"Uhm... About that..." she started when the doorbell rang. He stood up, then walked to the door, opening it and standing before a young blonde male, about 18.
"Hello, is Elise here?" Sesa asks, smiling at the stranger. "She told me to come by when I had the chance, so I thought why not now?"
Mr. Akito looked at Sesa, then adjusted his glasses.
"And whom are you, if I may ask?" He croaked, eyeing the boy.
Elise tensed as Sesa replied with, "Sesa Okomota." making her dad stand at attention.
"Arent you Mariam Okomota's kid?"
"Yes sir, I am. Why?"
Mr. Akito crossed his arms.
"You listen to me, boy." He began, using the same voice he had used in Afghanistan, "You mistreat my daughter in any way, and Ill tear you to shreds. Make her cry, and youll regret it. To make a long story short, your already walking on eggshells being a dambed Okomota, and you screw up one time, youll pay. But Im doing this because I love my daughter more than I hate your retched family. Understand?"
Sesa wanted to scoff at the man. He didnt scare him, but he none the less replied with, "Yes sir." as a sign of respect.
"Good. Shes in the kitchen." Mr. Akito says, walking back to the table and sitting down like nothing happened.
"Hey." Elise says, smiling abd moving a strand of hair out of her eyes.
"Hey. Ready to go?" He asks, smiling and keeping the surprise in mind. She nodded, slowly taking his hand in her own as they left.
Mr. Akito smirked.
As long as he kept her happy, he didnt give a damn if the boy was an Okomota. He had been rude just to keep Mrs. Akinson, of whom was down the hall at the time, from gossiping to her knitting club that he had gotten soft, which he most certaintly wouldnt have.
The REAL probpem was going to be telling her that she would have to move in with her aunt soon.
