LEO'S POV

“So, what’s going on?” Margaret asks.
Cristiana hops impatiently from foot to foot. She seems agitated, but I’m not sure why.
“It’s about what happened yesterday.”
“With the necklace?” Margaret teases.
I go red, and Cristiana laughs. She’s so beautiful when she laughs.
“No… Well, yes. But it’s not a necklace. It’s just a… charm.”
“What does it do?” Peter asks.
I shrug. “I’m not really sure, but Hadrian said I needed to wear it…”
Cristiana and Margaret look like they’re trying really hard not to laugh, and Fred and Peter’s smirks aren’t helping much.
“Anyways, it’s about dragons.”
I'm hoping that saying that will set a more serious mood, but instead it just makes it worse.
Margaret bursts out laughing. Evelyn, who has been completely quiet all this time, says, “Leonardo, dragons are extinct.”
I shake my head. “No, they’re not. I can show you.”
Suddenly, a woman barges into our little huddle.
“Evelyn! Come with me now! You’ve ruined your dress! We have company!”
She’s yanked away. We all give her sympathetic looks.
“Who was that?” I ask.
“Her mom,” grumbles Margaret. “She’s awfully strict.”
I nod. She sure looked like it.
“Wait, what’s that?” Cristiana motions towards a small cave that looks like it’s been recently used.
“I don’t know.”
“Let’s go check it out, then,” she says, racing off.
I chase after her, but none of us can keep up.
We eventually reach the mouth of the cave and peek in. It’s dark, but there’s a torch not far inside.
“Let’s go.” Cristiana barges in.
