Chapter Long Way Home

I walk over to Calum's house later that day. I should be thinking about Ashton, but I can't stop thinking about Luke. I wonder what he will think about Ashton and me liking each other. I hope he won't be angry.

I arrive, and ring the doorbell. I can hear some shouting inside. I roll my eyes. After about a minute, Calum opens the door. "LAUREN!" he yells, hugging me before I can even enter the house. "Lauren's here?" I can hear Luke say instantly. "Yeah!" Calum shouts VERY loudly. I wince. "Oh, sorry!" he apologises. "It's okay," I breathe.
"Lauren?" Luke is standing next to us. "Lukey!" I squeal, hugging him. He smiles.
Ashton and Michael come out into the hallway too. Ashton grins at me.
"Lauren, we wrote another verse of Heartbreak Girl," Michael tells me, after I hug him and Ashton. "Heartbreak Girl?" I say, confused. "The song we played yesterday," Luke explains. "Oh yeah!" I exclaim. "Oh my God, you HAVE to play it for me!!"
The boys smile. We go into Calum's sitting room, where they have their instruments set up.
Luke counts them in, and Calum starts to sing.

I bite my tongue but I wanna scream out
You could be with me now
But I end up telling you what you wanna hear,
But you're not ready and it's so frustrating
He treats you so bad and I'm so good to you it's not fair.

"That's all we have so far," Calum says after I finish clapping. "It's amazing, though!" I gush.
I glance at Ashton. He nods to the door. "Um, guys, I'm going to go to the bathroom," I tell them. I rush out, and run up the stairs.

Ashton appears a few minutes later. "I broke my one of my drumsticks and went to get Sellotape for it," he explains. "Okay. We need to talk." I nod.
"First of all, though," he says. "Will you meet me in the park tonight at around eight?" I stare at him, shocked. "Um, yeah," I reply. "So we're together now?" "I guess," he smiles. "We need to tell them," I sigh. "I think we should just tell them now," he suggests. "Better than waiting." I agree. "Can you tell them?" I ask. "I-I don't want to..." "Of course!" Ashton says quickly. "I'll go down now."
He walks down the stairs, and into the sitting room. I sit down on the carpet. I'm not worried about how Michael and Calum will react. I know they will think it's cool. But it's Luke that's making me nervous. I have no idea what he'll think.

I can hear talking downstairs. Then silence. And all of a sudden, the door is flung open and Luke storms out of the house. I bite my lip, and run out after him. Even if he doesn't want me around, we are going to talk.
