The Beginning Of The End
"It's only been your techniques and minds that have mature. Well, your bodies included. But as you've all just seen, your quirks haven't kept up with the pace. Starting today, you'll be improving on your quirks! This'll be so harsh that you'll wish you were dead, so do your best to stay alive!"
Immediately, we begin working on our quirks. I regulate the temperature of the water I'm sitting in by using my ice and fire consistently. (Y/N) is nearby, lifting many trees from the ground and juggling them to improve her accuracy and strength while also increasing her attention span. After a few hours, it's time for dinner. The Pussy-Cats are forcing us to make our own curry for food. I bet (Y/N)'s a great cook. I remember her talking about cooking with her parents.
"Hey (Y/N)-chan."
She pauses what she's doing, glancing up at me with a blank face until she realizes who I am, "Ah! Hey Sho-kun! Need some help?"
I nod, nearly swallowing my pride, "Yeah. I was never taught how to cook..other than soba."
She giggles, handing me a few carrots and onions, "Cut these up." She sighs, "How is she, by the way?"
"Huh? Who?"
"Your mom."
I chuckle, "Oh. She's better, at least. She's not as traumatized as she was when..that happened. I think she'll be ready to leave the hospital soon."
(Y/N)'s eyes brighten, "That's great! I wonder.." She pauses.
"You wonder what?" I question.
"I wonder if I could ever meet her."
I pat her head, smiling, "Of course. I'm sure mom would love to meet you!"
Her eyes brighten again and we finish making our curry together. We eat it at the table with everyone else. But before I've finished, (Y/N) gets up and cleans her dishes.
"(Y/N)."
She looks like she's lost in thought. She doesn't respond at first but eventually pauses.
"Yeah?"
"Where are you going?"
"I need to clear my head, I'm going for a walk."
"Do you want me to come?"
She giggles, but I can see the pain in her eyes, "No, I'll be okay. See you tomorrow."
A few hours later, it's time to get up for another day of the Training Camp. The entire day, it seems that (Y/N)'s angry. Did she have a bad dream? Is it the reason she wanted space last night? I'll have to talk to her when we're done training.
When we've finished and have already eaten dinner, the heroes say that it's time for a game. But before (Y/N) and I are put into any group, I pull her back into the main building and sit her down in a small room.
"What are you doing?" She asks.
I cross my arms, "What's going on with you? You've been acting different ever since yesterday."
She looks down, turning deathly pale and fidgeting with her hair tie on her dominant hand, "Sho, I-I.. This isn't something you'll want to know."
"I can take it, I'm sure."
"I guess it would be better to tell you now..before anything happens."
"What do you mean?"
She sighs, "I was sent to your class as a spy. B-By the League of Villains."
My eyes widen, "W-What?" My heart pangs in my chest.
"Please, just let me explain." I nod, taking a deep breath, "I didn't have much of a choice. My parents were critically injured by villains but were unable to get treatment. I was offered a job by Shigaraki, so I took it to help them pay for the treatment. T-They sent me here to find information on All Might, since it's been rumoured that he's getting weaker. I came here thinking that it wouldn't hurt anyone. I could just act nice, find information and leave before growing too attached to anyone. Instead..I found you."
At this point, I'm completely speechless.
"I'm so sorry for l-lying," She continues, "But once you told me about your father, I got angry. I left that day and told the league. I don't know if they're planning on doing anything. Maybe it'll make things worse. I-I don't know. I just wanted to help!"
"Then..where are they now?"
"Probably on their way here."
"What?"
"They're coming to get Bakugo," She freezes, "And I have to go with them too."
My heart stops, "What, why? You..can't!"
"They have all the information they need at the moment, I'm not of use anymore. Not here, at least."
I watch, still in shock, as she rushes out of the building. Finally, my body allows me to move and I begin chasing after her. I grab her by the wrist, tears suddenly rushing down my face.
"The memories we created t-together, do they mean nothing? Were they just some play-practice to you?"
She begins to cry as well, "N-No! Of course not! I'm so sorry. You're my f-friend, y-you'll always be.. my friend."
She continues to run as she pulls herself from my grasp. I watch, tears rolling down my cheeks, knees locked in one position. Her outline fades from view as she rushes into the tree line, towards a large cloud of smoke.
