Ends of the Earth
After the defeat of the League of Villains and the announcement of (Y/N)’s return, she was put under watch. Although most of the world wanted her safe return, there is still a big group of people that do not think she should be allowed to come back. Especially since this has happened before. So today, she’s going on live TV to apologize to Japan, as well as many other parts of the world.
“I’m nervous-” She mutters, fidgeting with her fingers.
I wrap my arm around her shoulders, kissing her forehead to calm her down. She glances up at me, smirking.
The two of us enter a large broadcast building with lots of bright lights, cameras and many people. (Y/N) is prepped with makeup as I help with the stage. She steps out a few moments later with two bodyguards. She takes a breath as she moves in front of the podium that’s placed in front of a live camera and an audience.
“Hello there, Japan, and..anyone else around the world who’s watching this,” She begins, taking another deep breath, “I’m here.. to apologize for everything I’ve caused. I don’t know if any lives were lost or affected by my behavior while under control of the league. I don’t know if I caused any severe damage to my fellow students or heroes. So I… I and the Hero Public Safety Commission think it’s best that my license is revoked and I am expelled from UA High until further notice.”
My eyes widen and I have to resist the urge to call out to her. Mutters fill the room as the heroes and civilians within the building finally realize what she means.
She won’t be a hero..ever again.
“No.”
Even (Y/N) seems slightly surprised by the word someone in the audience has said, “Huh?”
The person stands up, it’s Hawks, the #2 hero.
“I said, no.”
One of the people from the HPSC steps in beside her, “Why do you say that, Hawks?”
“Because she’s a hero. It’s not her fault that the league controlled her, she had no control over how anything went down. And plus, no one was severely injured during the UA attack or when she was working for them. Because it’s not her nature.”
Endeavor, my father, also stands up from a few seats beside Hawks.
“I’ll have to agree with the bird. She’s an amazing hero and an amazing girlfriend to Shoto. Her heart knew who her friends were and tried to stop her mind controlled self from attacking them. There is no reason to expel her or revoke her licence. If you need to do anything, suspend her license for a few weeks. Genkina would never be a villain. Even before this incident, she refused to hurt others when she came as a spy to UA.”
I bite my lip.
The Hero Public Safety Commission has never been stood up like this before..
The man standing beside (Y/N) glances at her as she stares with a smile at the two heroes that stood up for her. He sighs and looks back at the rest of the HPSC.
“Alright. I hereby state, (Y/N) (L/N) will remain at UA High. However, her hero license will be suspended for a week.”
Happy tears rush to my girlfriend’s eyes as she’s ushered off the stage. Before she can reach the end, I rush forward and hug her tightly. She cries tears of joy on my shoulder as I walk with her off the stage and out of the broadcasting building.
As we walk down the sidewalk back to UA High, any civilians and pro heroes that saw the broadcast seem to only give us a glance. But eventually, we come across a group of protesters. Namely, the woman from my hallucination that was protesting to save Genkina.
“We love you, Genkina!” She exclaims, as her and the others bend down to their knees in front of us, “It’s not your fault they did what they did. And.. at least you can still be a hero!”
And now I realize, the reason I kept seeing this woman everywhere…
She was one of the people (Y/N) saved during the Kamino Ward attack.
After we have them introduce themselves and (Y/N) signs some autographs, we move on getting back to UA High. When we pass the school gate, our entire class jumps out from behind bushes and trees.
“Surprise!”
(Y/N) finches but quickly smiles and greets everyone.
“Welcome back, (L/N)-chan!” Ashido cheers along with the other girls, “Principal Nezu told us to come get you for a surprise!”
Although we’re confused, we follow our classmates deeper into UA’s grounds. Eventually, we turn a corner to a clearing where the entire school is. Nezu and the other teachers stand in front of microphones on a stage before the student body.
“Welcome back, Genkina.” Nezu greets, beckoning her to step onto the stage.
I join the rest of my class and the school as our Principal begins to speak.
“Quickly, I’ll explain what we’ve been doing since (Y/N) was brought back from her brainwashing,” He starts, “First we questioned the students, asking if they were comfortable having her back at school and their reasoning why or why not. 75% said they were comfortable, 20% said they aren’t sure and the last 5% said they would not be. Once those results were gathered, we questioned their parents with the same survey. 85% were okay with her returning and the other 15% were not.”
I glance between Nezu and (Y/N), her face seems to be as stoic as ever. But I don’t remember getting any type of survey… maybe they kept it from me. They already knew what my answers would be, anyhow.
He turns to her with a smile as he stands on the box so he is her height, “And after more was revealed that you were always against the idea of hurting your friends or family, we had decided. (L/N) (Y/N), you will be allowed to return to UA High with no supervision necessary. Though, I doubt Mr. Aizawa will let you out of his sights. He was extremely worried when you went missing, y’know.”
Aizawa mutters something from beside Bakugo but I can see that it is true.
“Anyhow, I have something else.” He says, reaching into a box Vlad King has brought over. He hides the item behind his back, “You are an amazing hero, friend and student. We’ve seen the potential you have to become a hero and how hard you work to go beyond plus ultra. And as a school, we’ve decided to start a new award that would happen once a year.”
Principal Nezu holds out his hands, which holds a gold medal with the words “Student of the Year” engraved in titanium, “(Y/N), you are our student of the year.”
Tears immediately come to her eyes as the medal is placed around her neck and other students begin cheering. I feel my heart beat faster as she waves at her fellow classmates with happy, bright eyes. Confetti erupts around us (courtesy of Yayorozu) and I decide to sprinkle some snowflakes around as well.
One floats down onto her nose and melts. She giggles, turning to find me in the crowd. Once our eyes meet, it feels like I’m falling in love with her all over again.
Throughout our years at UA High, (Y/N) and I grew closer and were always a couple. Despite any challenges we faced, we were able to work through them as one. And now, we’re perfectly happy living together. We graduated UA last year and just settled into our own home together.
(Y/N) and I sadly end up working different shifts as heroes. She works from 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM while I work from 8:30 PM until 6 AM. And even then, problems could arise that cause our shifts to be stretched.
But today, I have a surprise. I called in for both of us to take a vacation day today and she has no idea.
“Baby~” I whisper, rubbing her shoulders as she tosses and turns in bed.
“Ughh, what is it Shoto?” She replies, rubbing her eyes awake. She glances over my shoulder to see the time and realizes she’s “late” to work, “Why didn’t you wake me up earlier!?”
She rushes around the room for a moment, using her quirk to pick up clothes and clean the room while she’s at it.
I grab her shoulders again, “I called us both in for a break today. No need to wake up too early.”
She rolls her eyes and kisses my cheek, “Thank you, dear.” But as she studies my face, she realizes that I had other reasons to call in today.
“What are you up to..?” She questions, hands on her hips.
I raise my hands, “You caught me, I had a secret plan. But anyways.. get dressed and I’ll see you in a few moments.”
I shut the door behind me as I clean myself up and wait for (Y/N) to come back out.
Once she does, she bombards me with questions that I ignore until we come to our location. Thankfully, since she’s been so focused on asking me questions, she didn’t realize where we were going.
“Wait a second, we’re at UA!” She exclaims.
I chuckle, “You were too focused on me to realize, huh.”
She playfully punches my arm as she stares at the new building. While we were third-years there, a new “copy-cat” League of Villains appeared and attempted to take over the school. Our class stopped them but in the process, blew up a good portion of the school.
UA immediately began repairs and our last few weeks of school there were done inside their other areas like Gym Gamma and areas we did our exams in. Now the school is almost unrecognizable from the original.
Due to being pro heroes now, both of us can enter with our passes. We walk around and take in the new feeling. I smile as my girlfriend smells the flowers planted by the new first-years.
“Hey, Todoroki-kun, (L/N)-chan!”
Both of us turn to the familiar voice, Kirishima.
The rest of the class stands behind him.
“This was your plan!?” She squeaks.
I chuckle, patting her head and grabbing her hand as we approach our former classmates, “Of course it was. Now come on.”
We spent hours catching up with our friends and learning about the experiences they’ve been in together. But eventually, we had to leave.
“Now what’s next, walking off the end of the earth?” (Y/N) asks jokingly.
I turn to her, “Well, would you?”
She smiles, caressing my cheek and kissing me, “For you? Always."
