A Change of Scenery
“Todo-kun!” Echoes in my head as I finally exit my dead sleep and wake up to Midoryia shaking me.He sighs and smiles as I tiredly lean up, “You almost slept in too long. Get dressed before (L/N)-chan gets here.”
He exits my room as I get up and begin getting dressed. I end up choosing a casual yet slick outfit that consists of an ironed suit-shirt and dark jeans. I head downstairs as everyone else is rushing around, making sure that the party will be ‘perfect.’
“Okay!” I call out to gain their attention, “I’m going to meet (Y/N)-chan at the gate. We’ll be gone for at least three hours. Text me if you need more time or something changes!”
The class waves as I shut our dorm’s door behind me and head to the front of UA High. Aizawa and Present Mic stand together near the front gate as well, waiting to greet (Y/N).
“Good morning, Todoroki-kun!” Present Mic says, “Aizawa told me about the surprise party so we’re here to take her things so she doesn’t see the party setup.”
I thank them just as a car pulls up. It’s completely black and the windows are tinted. It parks and (Y/N) steps out of the back seat. She smiles at me, shutting the door and attempting to get her things.
“Wait (L/N)-chan,” Aizawa says, “Let us take your bags. You and Todoroki-kun have a date today, right?”
She blushes but allows the two teachers to take her suitcases to her new dorm room.
“So, where are we going?” She asks.
Panic sets in. I never even thought about what we’d do on a date.
“Uh, how about a movie?”
She grins, “Sure!”
‘God, I hope I can get movie tickets at this hour.’
So we hail a taxi and head to the closest theatre. (Y/N) easily gets distracted by the games while I head to the ticket booth to decide on a movie. The new ones out seem terrifying to watch, especially with (Y/N). One movie stands out, it seems pretty interesting, it’s called ‘Heroes Rising.’
I feel like she’ll like it.
I buy two tickets. The movie starts in two hours so I find (Y/N) again and we leave the theatre to go to the mall.
“So, what movie did you get tickets for?” She asks nudging up against me.
I roll my eyes, “I’m not telling you yet. You’ll see when the movie begins.”
She pouts but doesn’t continue as we walk through the mall. I turn to her and hold out a credit card.
“Huh?”
“Take it,” I tell her, “Buy anything you want. It’s my dad’s card anyway.”
Her face glows with a wide smile that I haven’t seen in a while and she takes the card. We spend these two hours together shopping as I learn more about (Y/N) and her interests. She buys many things including, clothing, games, merch and obviously food.
But soon, the two hours are up and we’re on our way back to the theatre. We sneak in a few snacks and find our seats. When the intro for the movie begins, (Y/N) nearly squeals.
“Todo-kun!” She yell-whispers, “How did you know I wanted to see this movie?”
I chuckle, “Just a feeling I guess.”
The movie is completely filled with action and definitely gets my adrenaline pumping. I can see the excited look on (Y/N)’s face as she watches her favorite characters win battles and overcome changes throughout the movie.
At the end, a character dies. I hold (Y/N) closer when I notice the tears. She leans on me for the rest of the movie. When the credits roll around, she stops me from getting up.
“You always stay for the after-credits.”
At the end of the credits, it reveals that the character that died is actually alive.
As we walk out of the theatre, (Y/N) groans, “Why would they hurt me like that?!”
I chuckle at her anger, patting her head as we head back to UA High and I text the group.
She steps through the door and immediately pauses in the doorway. The common room is covered from top to bottom in (F/C) decorations and the ceiling seems to have tissue paper crossing from every side. I assume to simulate the look of (Y/N)’s energy when she uses her quirk.
Food and drinks are laid out on a long table in the middle of the room that has a tablecloth with (Y/N)’s second favorite color. The dance floor has taken up the space in front of the TV where the rest of the class stands with Aizawa, All Might, and Present Mic.
“Welcome home!”
(Y/N) lets out a squeal of happiness as tears rush down her face. She thanks us thousands of times until her legs suddenly give out. All Might, surprisingly, catches her.
“Be careful, (L/N)-chan,” Aizawa says, “You’re still weak. Be sure to sit down and drink water if you feel light-headed during the party. Class 1-A, it’s your responsibility to make sure she’s alright. I’ll be in UA if you need anything.”
Present Mic and All Might eventually follow our teacher as well, then, the party begins.
First, after Kaminari switches on the music, (Y/N) and I get food. Yaoyorozu and Sato cooked many meals last night and a few this morning. They smell amazing.
There’s katsudon, sushi, soba, as well as a few dishes of (Y/N)’s favorite foods. While we’re eating, Kirishima decides to turn on the TV. Another discussion about (Y/N) comes up on the news.
“Yesterday afternoon, (L/N) (Y/N)’s parents were sent to jail for child abandonment and endangerment. They gave their child to All for One and paid him to wipe her memories and replace them with fake-”
I shut it off.
I can see how (Y/N)’s face is cringing as she relives the pain.
“How about we play some games instead?”
We spend hours playing video games and taking turns as a class until Bakugo nearly breaks the Wii U and we decide to move on to dancing.
First, it starts as a fun time. Ashido shuts off the lights as Aoyama hands out glow sticks. Music suggested by me (because I saw it on (Y/N)’s playlist) blasts in our ears. We dance together for an hour before Bakugo begins creating a competition out of it.
He chooses two people and makes them dance battle. Everyone has a few rounds until...it’s just me and (Y/N).
“Come on icy-hot,” Bakugo teases, “It’s not that hard!”
Ashido leans on my shoulder, “Yeah Todoroki-kun, you got this!”
I glance over at (Y/N). She looks fine right now, but I remember what Aizawa said.
“No, that’d risk (Y/N)’s health.”
She rolls her eyes, approaching me and punching me lightly on the shoulder, “I’ll be fine. Let loose a little, Todo-kun.”
I sigh but surrender and face the girl for our dance battle. She smirks as Ashido presses the play button. It’s fast-paced but sounds old, like a bar song from the 60’s.
(Y/N) immediately begins the battle. She moves in a circle around me, swaying her hips in tune to the song. Suddenly, the beat picks up. (Y/N) drops down and starts breakdancing. The entire tune of the song distorts into a battle.
She ‘breaks it down’ then jumps up and waits for my response. I show her my moves and we continue this for the rest of the song.

At the end, the class was supposed to vote for a winner but when we turn to them, they’re all stunned.
“C’est magnifique!” Aoyama announces, breaking the silence.
He approaches us with Ashido, complimenting us on our moves and tallying up the votes. After a few minutes, they announce the winner in unison.
“And the winner is...both of you!”
Huh?
“It was a tie. We thought you were both amazing, I guess.” Uraraka explains.
I smile, glancing over at (Y/N). She looks over at me as well, smirking. I hug her around the shoulders as the class begins dancing again.
Eventually, a slow song comes on. Specifically, Perfect by Ed Sheeran.
The class parts, revealing (Y/N) and I dancing beside each other. The lights on the dance floor dim to match the mood. I can tell that they want us to slow-dance together.
I turn to her, outstretching my hand, “Would you care to dance, m’lady?”
She giggles, putting her hand in mine, “Thank you, kind sir.”
I place my hands around her waist while she places hers around my neck. My heartbeat begins to pick up as we sway with the slow beat of the song. She eventually leans her head on my chest and I feel my entire would brighten.
The class slowly joins in with their own partners until the song’s over. After the slow dance, we continue dancing and partying until it’s eleven at night.
Slowly, everyone begins going to sleep. (Y/N) and I join in.
The next day, everything goes back to normal.
