The Number One hero(es)

"Idiot," (Y/N) says, "Why did you come? We had it under control."
I chuckle, kneeling down at her side, "You're the one in a stretcher right now, not me."
"Excuse me!" The two of us look back to see three groups of reporters approaching with microphones and cameras.
I glance at (Y/N), but she nods to tell me it's okay. I sit beside her as she's interviewed.
"What is your quirk and why weren't you in the UA Sports Festival?"
"My quirk is called Consumer. I can take, give, and use energy as a physical object. I can also gain it when attacked. It has many uses. I didn't start going to UA until after the Sports Festival. There..was a miscommunication with my parents."
Another reporter approaches, "What are your thoughts on being the new number one hero?"
"Wait..huh?" She replies, "What are you talking about? I'm only a student. Plus I'm considered a traitor, aren't I?"
The reporter shakes his head, "The Hero Association has already received calls from civilians voting for you to replace the Symbol of Peace."
She glances at me, I shrug in confusion as well.
"I'd like to rest for now," She says, "I can answer more questions later, alright?"
Thankfully, the reporters respect her wishes, walking away. (Y/N) takes a deep breath, cringing in pain.
"Sho-" She mutters, "We may have a problem."
"What is it?"
The girl leans up slightly, pulling up her shirt until just above her belly button. And she pulls down the shoulders of the shirt as well. Her entire belly is covered in cuts, open wounds, and bruises. The entire wound from the Hero Killer on her shoulder has reopened wider than ever.

"I think..I used too much energy," She mutters, "This has happened before, when I was training with the LoV. But it was never this bad."
Suddenly she winces, kicking her legs up in response to the pain.
"Stay down, (Y/N)," I order, "We can't let those wounds reopen again."
She coughs, leaning over to the right as blood comes out, she glances over at me with a sad smile, wiping her mouth, "They already have."
"How many times has someone cut into you pretty far?"
She giggles, "Too many times to count," Another cough, "But I think a stab wound to the stomach I earned from a Nomu could reopen. It nearly killed me then..looks like it gets another chance."
"Don't talk like that!" I hiss, "Recovery Girl will help."
"She can't. She uses energy to heal, and I..I've used all of mine. The only reason I'm still awake is because of the adrenaline. She can't do anything."
"Then I'll go get the paramedics."
She nods slowly, taking a deep breath as I go get the medics. They approach and lift her, carrying her into the ambulance.
"Wait," She mutters, the medics pause, "Shoto."
I approach, "Yes, what is it, (Y/N)?"
She uses her hand to call me closer, then puts her hand behind my head. She pulls me even closer suddenly until our lips connect. My eyes widen but I close them quickly, kissing her back. When we pull away, she smiles.
As she's loaded into the vehicle, she waves at me, saying, "Just in case."
I realize what she means but I can't do anything now. I watch with a paining heart as the ambulance drives away. Yaoyorozu, as well as Midoryia and the others who came to save (Y/N) and Bakugo approach and run to me. Midoryia first notices the blood where (Y/N) was laying.
"W-Where is she?" He asks, noticing my tears.
"Sit down first, Todoroki. You look about ready to pass out." Uraraka says, so I do.
I take a breath, "She went over her limit and now her body seems to be reversing the energy that was used to heal her wounds. So..they're reopening."
"Oh god," Yayorozu mutters, "But..she didn't look too beat up."
"She was stabbed a while back when she was training with the League. It almost killed her then and it happened before the Sports Festival since she wasn't here yet. It's only a matter of time before it reopens."
"So she's basically going back in time?" Kaminari asks.
"In a way, I guess," I reply, "But I don't think she's physically going back in time, only her wounds."
"Doesn't that also mean they'll go back to before they were created?" Midoryia asks.
I shut my eyes, covering my face with my hands as the feeling of (Y/N)'s lips on mine makes me shiver.
"Please tell me you guys at least got to talk." Sero says, I nod.
A smile full of warmth covers my face, "She kissed me."
Uraraka and Yayorozu practically jump for joy as the news, holding each other. Kaminari and the other boys smile but don't say or do anything else
"We should be getting home soon," Shoji points out, "Before our parents wake up, at least."
So the group of us get back on the train that brought us here, heading back to Musutafu. We say our goodbyes as everyone gets off back to their houses. My sister stands at the door with her arms folded and a look of pure anger written all over her face. Natsuo steps beside her.
"We saw everything." He hisses.
"Listen, we-" Before I can finish my response, Natsuo smacks me across the face.
"Why would you risk everything like that! We were worried sick."
I sigh as the two hug me tightly and Fuyumi cries into my shoulder.
"We didn't fight," I finally say, "We only gave Bakugo an opening to leave and he took it. (Y/N)..she didn't want to come. She stayed and fought beside All Might."
"Is she okay?" My sister asks.
"She used too much energy," I reply, "So now the wounds from a while ago from the Hero Killer are coming back and reopening."
"Was..was she really a traitor?"
"Yes.. well, not really," I respond, "All for One, the villain from today was hired by (Y/N)'s parents to wipe her memories and switch them around so she thought they were sick with a virus. The villain convinced her to join the league, in order to make money. She came to UA on a mission to find out All Might's weakness."
"I'm sure UA will forgive her." Fuyumi says, "She was being heroic and prevented her classmates from getting kidnapped. She's even being voted in as the number one hero."
"But don't the public know about her betraying UA high?" I question.
Natsuo nods, "But that's exactly why they like her. Although the whole story isn't revealed yet, they know that she was tricked into going with the villains. They know that she saved your class from getting kidnapped and melted titanium to fight back against All for One. They saw her bravery, who she is, not what the villains tried to make her into."
I smile, "That's good."
"Did you two get to talk before she was taken to the hospital?"
I nod, "She..she kissed me."
My siblings smile at the news, as Fuyumi heads into the kitchen and we begin making dinner. While we're eating, after our dad also joins, news about everything that happened today airs on the TV. Video footage of (Y/N) 'powering up' and melting titanium was taped by a civilian. Chills rush down my spine as I'm finally able to see what she looked like exactly during that moment.
"UA traitor, (L/N) (Y/N) was kidnapped, along with her classmate, Bakugo Katsuki two days ago. Today, Bakugo was saved while (L/N) stayed to redeem herself and aid All Might, the Symbol of Peace, in fighting a powerful villain, currently dubbed 'All for One."
A sheet flips, "Due to All Might's retirement and (L/N), or her hero name 'Genkina' rise in popularity, she's already got votes from civilians that want her as the number one hero and the new Symbol of Peace. Before you judge for or against her, allow the police to investigate the situation. At the moment, all we know is that she didn't betray UA entirely on her free will. Plus, she didn't endanger anyone. The League of Villains told her that no one would be harmed. She also risked her own life to protect her classmates. She prevented the kidnappings of more students and/or deaths of her peers. During the rescue, All Might stated that Genkina had a chance to leave but decided to stay to help him. If you don't think she's heroic, then you are extremely mistaken. (L/N) (Y/N) is one of the most heroic people other than All Might that have appeared in a long time. Anyways, more will be revealed as time goes on."
I don't listen to the rest of the report. I only watch the videos of (Y/N) as she 'powers up' and becomes almost as red and hot as a ball of lava. You can see from start to finish as (Y/N) gets more and more tired. Her face gets pale and her movements became much slower.
A few days later, we go back to school.
It's almost completely silent as we approach the new dorms. Aizawa stands on the stairs, but instead of his usual scowl, his face is stricken with confusion, anger, and guilt.
"I cannot stress how mad but relieved I am," He begins, "Those of you who went after Bakugo and (L/N), although it was dangerous, thank you for being sure to avoid combat." He turns towards me, "Todoroki, (L/N) is going to be interrogated by the police and Hero Association later tonight, teachers who taught or talked with her are being required to attend. They want you to attend as well. You won't be asked as many questions, so it's your choice if you want to go."
I nod, despite how much I'm confused if they like (Y/N). Especially with her lying to all of us, I say yes. The class heads inside and we unpack our things into our dorm rooms. Once we're done, the group of us are hanging out in the common room. My classmates are trying to convince me that (Y/N) will only break my heart. Well, not all of them. Mineta is the only one trying to change my mind about her.
"Trust me, girls like that will only use you."
The rest of our class awaits my response, but I give him a sly smile.
"I apologize that your only interactions with women have given you that impression."
Then I turn away and wait for Aizawa to come and get me for the interrogation.
