Temple of the Forgotten

There are people in this world, very few of them, who have the abilities to defy gravity, test reality, and entirely break the laws of physics. They were helpful. They saved lives. They were accepted and treated as normal people, but people change. They turn on you. They cheat, lie, but they took it to another level. They soon began treating them like animals. But a small group of people wanted to help them. Save them. They erased their memories and sent them to an island, not yet discovered by the rest of humanity. It seems like a paradise at first, but in reality, it is crawling with demons, monsters, vengeful spirits. In order to create a safe, peaceful place to live, they have to fight these creatures. Tw: alcohol

Jaiden trudged down the stairs of the apartment building, looking down at her almost mint condition black converse. One foot after the other,  she finally reached the bottom.  She stood outside. It was abnormally cold tonight.  She checked her phone for the time.
9:30.
She looked up watching cars go by. Moths circled the streetlights, which shone bright next to the black sky. A breeze blew her long black hair across her face.  She let it stay there,  in front of her eyes. She adjusted the forest green coat she had picked up from the apartment just before she left.  She slid her hands into the pockets and continued walking.
After around twenty minutes, she reached her destination.
She pushed open the door,  a wave of air barreled out,  smelling of cigarette smoke and cheap alcohol.  The bar was busy tonight,  people chattered and laughed,  some seeming to be a bit drunk. She made her way to the back,  where the bartender stood,  serving bottles and shots to customers,  his partner doing the same.  He walked up to Jaiden.
" Your ID?"
She pulled it out of her back pocket, showed it to him, and put it away again.
" Alright then.  What are you having? "
"Two bottles of Heineken. Please.  "
He nodded and handed her what she had requested, as if it had been rehearsed.
"Thank you.  "
" Pleasure. "
She sat at a little isolated two person table in the back and cracked open the drink.
She sipped it as her eyes moistened and soon dripped salty drops onto the table in front of her.
