Thank you
“Sapph!” Crimson yells, “This is the only way.” Sapphire shakes her head rapidly and clenches her teeth."First option" She mumbles. "Last breath"
“What? But we can't do...” Jackie pauses and stares at the Sapphire wide eyed coming to realisation. “…that.” Sapphire points to herself. Surge nearly drops them. Her friends stares at her, disbelieving, and Surge tightens his grip on them,
"Are you insane? You can’t just give up! Not after all that-"
“Not…not giving up,” Sapphire croaks, “My friends can go back. Hah,” she laughs weakly, “I can't, I'm dying anyway.”
“Don’t say that.” Surge growls. Sapphire continues,
"Also. Slarians set free from the curse. Have to do it. Want to do it,” She smiles weakly, “Free everyone.”
“Sapphire, no,” The girls sob. Surge watches two drops of water land on Sapphire's cheek before he realizes he’s crying too.
“I won't last long,” Sapphire says, “Please.” They clutch Surges’ sweater tighter, “Please.” Surge is silent. "Calista?" Sapphire struggles.
"Y-yes?" Calista sniffles.
"Thank you, for being my friend and letting me talk to you when I can" Calosta nods choking out another sob.
"Crimson?"
"Sapph?"
"You have been a great friend since the beginning and I am happy to call you one of my best friends. Thank you for being there and making me smile" Crimson mutters something but it's drowned out by her sobs.
"Jackie?"
"Uh-huh?"
"You ran amazing and beautiful person and I love talking to you and going on adventures with you when I can. Don't let anyone put you down anymore" Jackie nods and wipes her tears smiling through the sadness.
"...Maria?"
"What?" Sapphire is silent for a moment and a small smile creeps onto her muzzle.
"Your the best sister I've ever had, take care of everyone for me, tell them I love them"
"Of course!" She leans down and hugs Sapphire who happily clings onto her also accepting the hug.
Sapphire's chest is still moving, up and down, but it’s getting slower. Surge looks at them.
"If your done then-"
"No, I'm not done" Sapphire mutters. "Surge..." Sapphire whispers something, but he can’t hear it, so he lowers his head.
“Can you say that a little closer?” he asks. Sapphire is falling asleep, and the portal is getting brighter in front of them. His tears are falling faster onto Sapphire's face. She mumbkes again but he still didn't quite hear that. But he needs to listen.
“I didn’t quite catch that.” Sapphire exhales and her chest stops moving.
"Darlin'?"
The portal opens.
