Holidays!
"...and the one who scored the highest, Bachiko!" the teacher announced. The holidays are here and the students have received their exam papers. Bachiko's face was glowing! "Great job, Bachiko!" her friend, Ayame complimented. "Thanks, Ayame!" Bachiko smiled.Bachiko skipped home, with her smile beaming from ear to ear. When Bachiko reached home, her mother greeted her and gave her a bento-for lunch. Since Bachiko was hungry, she finished her bento quickly. "I scored full marks for my Japanese Language Test!" she told her mother. "Great work Bachiko! As a reward, you will be going to Granny's house during holiday!" her mother said.
Bachiko loved Granny, but she hated Granny's house. It was an old wooden bungalow with a creepy backyard with tall grass. Bachiko packed quickly, without another word.
