Realization
When Kara next woke up, she was in a bed and had a major migraine. And she kept hearing voices.
"Dear gods, what the hell happened to me..?" She asks noone in particular. She looks around and sits up, holding her head in her hand.
The last thing she remembers is hearing that she and her companions needed to kill the King of Darkness...
Then she heard a knock at the door, and saw Yu walk in with a tray of food.
"I'm sorry. I shouldn't have told you so early, but destiny must be heard, otherwise you'd all die." She says, setting the food down on a table next to the bed.
"I still don't understand. Why us?" Kara asks, looking at Yu as she pulls a chair up and sits in front of Kara.
"Because, Destiny chose you." Yu states as if the answer were right in front of her eyes.
Kara shakes her head and stands up, walking to the window.
The window was actually nothing more but a giant section of the wall that was naturally an open mouth of a cave, but since the generations that have been there, they turned it into a window that could look out and onto the valley below, and beyond.
"Go ahead, Kara-chan. Look out onto the valley and tell me what you see." Yu states, sipping her tea.
Kara looks back at Yu, then does as asked.
"What do you see, Kara? Use your magic. Use your eyes. Use whatever you have to, but just look." She says, seeing Kara close her eyes.
In her mind, Kara could see the valley.
She saw the men that were hunting, their arua grey.
Grey ment hopelessness...
Then she looked out to the sea, to the fisherman.
Grey and black, which ment hopelessness and despair.
As she went through the provinces, Kara saw this pattern in larger and larger scales.
Hopelessness.
Despair.
Hatred.
The provinces were a powder keg ready to blow. One little spark, one little incident could lead to-
"War hasnt been seen for mellenia. The last great struggle was nearly our end. Just imagine what this next war may do." Yu says, standing behind Kara. Kara looks back to Yu, who was staring blankly out into the valley.
"What I have seen... It can't be unseen, Kara. I've seen grown men weep for their children, I've seen children kill each other for bread. And all of this in my own hold. Kara, I don't know why, but Destiny chose you and your three companions. For some reason, your story isn't over. It's just beginning. If you live, be sure that everyone knows of your journey." Yu states, walking to the door and stopping to look back at Kara, who was now filled with a a sense of urgency.
"If you kill the Dark Lord, be sure to kill Sesa as well." Yu says, walking away.
And leaving Kara with so, so, so many questions.
