Tartarus
-PERCY-As we fought, the Titans kept moving backwards, usually a sign of struggling, but they were backing towards Tartarus. I knew it was a trap, and I'm sure Annabeth did too. But what choice did we have? We fought on until we were so close to the pit that I was surprised we weren't being sucked in. Then I realized that somehow, the Titans had done this on purpose, so they could throw us in and not get pulled back in themselves. Smart. Too bad they wouldn't be trapping gods. I had tricked Annabeth to become mortal with me, and Hades could easily escape Tartarus.
I fought as hard as I could, but I was wearing out quickly, and I could tell Annabeth was, too. We fought on. For a second, I thought we had actually started winning. I was wrong. Kronos himself grabbed Annabeth and I, one in each hand, and tossed us towards the pit. We free fell, and all I could think of was what I wanted to do with Annabeth that I had never had the chance to do. I came to my senses and grabbed Annabeth's hand just as we reached the opening of the pit, where I reached for a small ledge just big enough for my hand to hold, but I knew it couldn't stay that way fro long. Annabeth found another small hand pocket and grabbed it, still holding my hand. She'd probably figured out by now what the pool did, and hated me for it. But I still loved her.
Something rang through my head, and I saw these words imprinted in my brain:
So the sharpened edges may not be round,
And the truths that were hidden might not be found,
For we will not choose the fate of our friend,
And it may not have a happy end.
