Chapter 23- Love Goes On
The story kept playing in my head. Nightmares familiarity with the story, the way he reacted when the boy died...I wouldn't doubt that gray angel was him.
And if it was him, I had a lot of questions.
I sat on my bed, looking at my bookcase and thinking. Blaise rested her head on my shoulder and snuggled my arm. I blushed and looked at her.
"I'm tired scratch.. Can I use you as a pillow?"
"If you wish."
She closed her eyes and smiled, then yawned and leaned against me. The smell of her hair lifted my spirits and made me blush more. It smelled like coconuts and pineapples. I smiled and wrapped my arms around her, holding her close to me so she wouldn't slip and wake up. I gently wrapped one of my large dark wings around her colourful, smaller, ones. As she slept I watched over her, feeling peaceful and happy.
I yawned and opened my eyes. We were laying on my bed, in yesterdays clothes, my arm around her hugging her close. Her back was to me, my wing over her like a blanket.
For a moment I relished the warmth and comfort she gave me. I snuggled her, burying my face in her hair. The sweet smell of coconut and pineapple in my nose.
Then she yawned and sat up, almost hitting me in the face as she moved. I moved my face away and looked up at her. She stretched. In the light from the window her wings looked on fire, her hair beautiful little waves around her face. They were as light as clouds, drifting around her face. Her bright green eyes looked as beautiful as any gem.
I heard my heart thumping and I smiled.
This felt right.
Once she focused on me she smiled. I sat up, going to her level.
"Morning Scratch."
"Morning. Hey, there's something you should know."
"What?"
"Your the most beautiful girl I have ever met."
She blushed and before I lost my courage I pulled her in and kissed her.
After a moment she pulled away and laughed quietly.
"Awwww thanks snowflake. That's really sweet of you."
"No problem."
"You didn't just say that so I wouldn't beat you up?"
"I know you wouldn't do that."
"Eh, I don't know. Sometimes you get on my nerves."
"When has that ever happened?"
"When you almost killed Solus."
"Can you please stop reminding me of that..?"
"Sorry. But its true."
I looked around. I didn't see Nightmare anywhere.
"Have you seen Nightmare?"
"How should I know? I just woke up."
"Something feels off..."
I got out of bed and stretched, letting my wings expand and stretch too, then went to my dresser.
I pulled out a new shirt and pants. Then I remembered Blaise was still in the room.
"Can you leave so I can..?"
"Oh. Right. Ok." She smiled and left. I smiled to myself and shook my head. She was totally going to watch me or something.
When I was done I went outside and to the kitchen to see Nightmare sitting at the table.
